I heard that on his first day Trump eliminated subsidies that made mortgage insurance less expensive. This only effects Democrats. No Republicans have this mortgage insurance, right?

Yes, Trump canceled a cut in the FHA mortgage insurance rates because the country cannot afford it. This has nothing to do with private mortgage insurance, which most responsible people carry if they do not have enough equity. That brings up another question.

Should the government be subsidizing home buying for anyone? I wish he would eliminate the entire FHA mortgage program. If you can't put 10% down on a home, you don't need to buy a home.

I mean, you can buy a home with an FHA mortgage with 3.5% down payment. That's absurd.

OT posters don't even know what a mortgage is. They pay for their mansions with straight cash money.

I planned from an early age, worked hard, saved my money, invested wisely, lived within my means and my house is paid for.

I don't expect or need the gubment to give me handouts.

That is your opinion. If a bank wants to loan someone money for a home that only puts down less than 10%, that is the bank's decision. I agree that the government should get out of the loan business altogether, that includes student loans.

well that is very short sighted of you. Guess i would not have been able to purchase my home unless i lived with my parents for a couple year.

Good thing i only had to put 3 percent down and was able to move out and provide for myself. Silly of me to want a home of my own

Democrats obviously didn't learn anything from 2007 when risky people were buying homes they really couldn't afford and we had one of the worst housing crises in history.

Fannie and Freddie are only quasi government, and there's a need for HUD although I think it's overstepped it's bounds.

And I'm sure Obama proposed the cut just to force Trump to cancel it creating a Dem talking point.

Why put 10% down when u only have to put 3.5%

Fha purchase is the best. Trump needs to go higher mip with 100% financing like VA

This actually doesn't effect anyone. The cut hadn't been implemented yet. Nothing has changed.

he didn't raise anything, he cancelled a planned .25% cut. People are using hyperbole to make it sound much worse than it is. If you have a $250,000 mortgage, you won't save that extra $27 a month. Oh the horror.
