Tax incentives start sunsetting in 2018 and 2019. I imagine they won't be building the Altima,Murano, Titan, Frontier and NV there for long after that. They'll move a couple of the lines to Tennessee .

Some won't. Some will be happy to sit in their living room drinking beer while on unemployment for 2 years.

I wonder if this will have a Detroit-style ballot box stuffing.

so is it a simple majority win or does it have to reach a certain %?

I doubt Nissan is going to walk away from a 3 billion dollar investment. They will outsource the work to contractors.

Is the UAW going to try to rebuild themselves with racial divisive nonsense?

The NYT article said the vote will probably be along racial lines and talked about the UAW strategy there. It was pretty disappointing to read.

Isn't everything in today's world decided along the racial lines?

According to NYT, they average about $24 per hour plus 14 vacation days every year and a $4,000 annual bonus. Some get $26 per hour.

You are not going to find that with a high school diploma in central Mississippi. Joining the UAW would essentially be pulling up the ladder for other people that might want a job like that in the future. It will turn off companies to invest in the area - especially car companies.

Same shite happened in Monroe around the mid 90's at the Guide plant. They made headlamps for GM. I had numerous class mates from high school that went to work there making $16-20/ hr at 18 years old driving a forklift. Once they became unionized, they would clock in on Friday evenings, go to their camps for the weekend, then clock out Sunday evening on their way home all the while making time and a half all weekend. These were the guys at 18-20 years old making 75k a year thinking they had life by the balls.
