Which is why this law is a joke. Do I want insurance? Absolutely but if my job won't provide it, I'm not paying the huge rates for an individual when it is cheaper for me to pay the fine.

Freedom = selfishness and greed?

Forced "community" by an elite few is the ultimate example of selfishness and greed.

The opposition to Obamacare is not about people in various communities CHOOSING to pool resources using insurance to make healthcare more affordable. We are opposed to Obamacare because:
1. It is mandated by government - you are forced to participate or face fines or prison.
2. It is controlled and enforced by a government that is both corrupt and inefficient.
3. It is unconstitutional.
4. Obamacare has been a lie - it was sold as a lie that Dems believed.
5. It doesn't solve the very issue Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Landrieu and the rest of the D's claimed it would - insuring all Americans. Latest estimate is over 30 milion will remain uninsured.
6. ObamaCare is designed to FAIL. The goal is a single-payer system totally controlled by the Feds - no insurance companies. Once that happens, the FEDS OWN YOU and they will tell you everything you can and can't do because they pay for your life.
7. And finally, ObamaCare isn't about healthcare - its about unqualified, corrupt people in DC gaining control of the economy and your entire life.

BTW, this is what happens when you view the US Constitution as a "living, breathing" document -> people twisting it and purposely misinterpreting it to get around it. Anyone who tells you the US Constitution is a "living" document cannot be trusted with political power.

I hope the idea of paying a fine to the government for not buying a product does not sit well with you or anyone else. This fine is totally Un-American.

No, but guess what a meal at the tables of family gatherings are centered upon? You would never have eaten a second meal after a day of hearing mom talk about her patients at clinicals that day, actually getting through that meal might be too much.

Sounds like a typical group plan. Most people don't pay attention to it because their employer pays the bill. What you're describing is probably going to impact only those who purchase individual non-group policies.

Yes, the employer pays the massive increases, there will be no consequences for employees.

Not disagreeing with you. However, if you chose to not eat more, that would be your choice. May even be mine. But what I disagree with is the government making that decision for me. Taking from me to give to them. When robinhood did it, it was theft, when obama does it it is still theft.

that is kinda the way insurance works.
No. No. No. What has "insurance" has morphed is redistribution scheme. But that isn't insurance. Congrats on being uninformed on how actuary principles work. You're a prime candidate for the casino.

Great argument against government-provided care.

Along with individuals who will no longer be able to afford their current coverage, I believe they'll find Medicaid to be no "godsend".

This doesn't change the fact that you either 1) Demonstrated a lack of understanding of healthcare premiums by comparing it to hazard insurance, or 2) Said something that was incorrect to try to prove a borderline false point, in addition to calling someone a "BS hack."

It's great that your family has experience in the healthcare industry, but that doesn't mean they understand healthcare economics, especially at a macro level. Nor does it mean that you have mastered it by sharing a dinner table with them.
