"Fake News" is a term that trump popularized , . It was used as defense mechanism to combat media reports that portrayed him negatively and his low approval rating.

Oh? Because I have heard the phrase "liberal media" LONG before the invention of Fox News. It may not have been the exact phrase "fake news", but it was certainly the intent to imply it was fake.
