I would not support this here, but it makes it obvious that she's scared of losing her re-election bid.
That said, the burka is a symbol of oppression over women. I'm all for free expression, but I'm not sure that's what a burka represents.

What is interesting is that this ban was never suggested for Germany's large Muslim population pre-refugees.
