Allowing transgender people to serve in the military is inevitable

So much PC idiocy.
First off, I refuse to believe the bolded portions above are true, unless they are using a very broad and liberal definition of "transgendered."
Second, how would this affect testing for entrance into the military? Would the dudes who like to tuck their sacks back get to do less pull-ups and get to wear their hair in a ponytail? Would the chicks claiming to be dudes have to complete training equal to the real men?
quote:
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel made headlines in May when he said that the policy excluding transgender people from serving in the military should "continually be reviewed," and that he "would be open" to rethinking the ban. His remarks led many to hope that a change in regulations for transgender service members could happen in the near future. Since the 2010 repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" — a policy enacted by the Bill Clinton administration that required gay and lesbian service members to remain closeted about their sexuality — the campaign to end the exclusion of transgender people in the military has also picked up steam. This effort was aided by reports from the Palm Center think tank in March 2014 and the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law in May, which estimate that around 15,500 people currently serving in the US military are transgender. Data from the National Transgender Discrimination Survey and the US Census Bureau shows that there are about 134,300 transgender veterans, and that military service is more common among transgender people than it is among the general American population. No data is available on whether these individuals are pre- or post-transition.

I don't know why this should matter. If someone wants to fight and die for our country I don't care what gender they identify as. You shouldn't either.

The military is going to have to ramp up their legal counsel for the amount of harassment and discrimination suits that will occur if this gets rolled out.

Standards matter. You let everyone who wants to play on the team and you're gonna have a shitty team and no one has fun.

That's because you don't know dick about military discipline and how it affects combat effectiveness.

To what extent do they consider them transgendered? The only way something like this could possibly work out and be a net positive is if our military were like the guys in starship troopers- same standards for men and women, shower together, all that jazz

If they love this country enough to put their life at risk for it then they are better than you give them credit for, and certainly not deserving of ridicule.

Much to my shame and that of my collegues, there was a F-4 pilot VN vet who transgendered himself in the 80s, and retired with United. He had the decency and decorum to do that after he separated from the USAF.
Somewhere in AF, there are captains and majors who are about to be told they're fired. All you social warriors who think we're making great strides by putting women and gays at the front somehow don't realize it makes us look weak to our enemies.
Oh, and:

I can't open the link.
Does it say what percentage of these trannies have a combat related MOS or are they all secretaries and desk jockeys?

It's going to make other people less likely to want to serve in the military.
We can pretend all we want that transgenderism isn't weird and off-putting to normal people, but that doesn't change the facts.
The pc police are so humane that they would deny everyone the right to have normal human reactions to oddities.

If we allow women to serve in the military, and we allow men to serve in the military, why don't we allow former men and women?

Transgenders aren't people.

Echoing hawkeye, but i'd like to learn more, honestly. I actually enjoy your military posts on here.

Those numbers seem incredibly high. But hey, maybe we have 15,000+ Corporal Klinger's running around our military bases and combat zones.

The only problem I would have is if someone that is male but "identifies" as a female wants to get in and only have to meet the benchmarks a female must. That would be a problem.
Otherwise, have at it.

I support this. Matter of fact, put them all on the front lines
