Alex Jones admits pizzagate was a hoax, says he is sorry
Posted by Eurocat on 3/25/17 at 4:49 am1817
Alex Jones, the conspiracy-loving media personality, apologized Friday for his role in promoting “Pizzagate,” the baseless viral story that a Washington pizza restaurant was the locale of a child sex-abuse ring run by Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman, John Podesta.
In a surprising bit of backtracking, Jones posted a six-minute video on his website, “InfoWars,” in which he read a prepared statement formally distancing himself and his site from what became a textbook story of fake news run amok.
He addressed his apology to James Alefantis, the owner of Comet Ping Pong, the restaurant that was the supposed locale of the alleged conspiracy last year.
“I made comments about Mr. Alefantis that in hindsight I regret, and for which I apologize to him,” Jones said. “We relied on third-party accounts of alleged activities and conduct at the restaurant.
We also relied on accounts of [two] reporters who are no longer with us.”
He added, “To my knowledge today, neither Mr. Alefantis nor his restaurant Comet Ping Pong, were involved in any human trafficking as was part of the theories about Pizzagate.”
The story, he said, “was based upon what we now believe was an incorrect narrative.”

I despise alex Jones but kudos for stepping up and admitting this.

Jones didn’t say what prompted his apology but it may have been motivated by a letter Alefantis wrote to him in February. The letter demands an apology and retraction for InfoWars’ postings about Pizzagate; it does not threaten legal action, but refers to what Alefantis describes as “defaming” comments by InfoWars.
But the timing of Jones’s apology suggests he was concerned about a potential lawsuit. Under Texas law, the Austin-based Jones had to retract or apologize for the stories by Friday — one full month after receiving Alefantis’s letter — to avoid exposing InfoWars to punitive damages in a libel suit.

Alex Jones admits pizza gate was a hoax
anyone who actually thought this shite was even remotely true is a fricking true moron...
let's see if we can come up with a list of posters that did believe this....

If his statements were true then why retract or apologize for them?
A libel lawsuit won't hold up in court if the statements made are true and proven.

neither Mr. Alefantis nor his restaurant Comet Ping Pong, were involved in any human trafficking as was part of the theories about Pizzagate
This does not apologize for pedophiles in the theory, just this one part?

That is a stupid question.. why would Jones want to go to court, regardless of outcome?!

as a member of the media, where credibility is a big deal, it would be to validate his claims, further adding to any credibility he would have had....
now, he has none.... he's a fat fricking loser who just yells a lot... though some of you will still think he's a godsend, he's a conspiracy theorist loon that should be taken with a grain (or mine) of salt...

He probably opened himself up to a liability suit.
I hope that pizza place sues the shite out of him, and I hope obama sues the shite out of trump for libel. Conservative media is based on conspiracy theories. They play on the lack of education in the republican constituency

If he believes the shite he said about this guy, and he's pulling the story because he's afraid to say it in court, then he's a pussy and all his talk about being the guy that's not afraid to stand up and tell the truth is bullshite.
If he doesn't believe or isn't sure about the shite he said about this guy, then he's a fricking monster that has been getting rich by lying to his flock of stupid sheep that will believe anything he says regardless of how ridiculous it is and who it hurts.
My money is on the latter, but either way, anyone that listens to anything the guy says is a moron, plain and simple.
Please let Obama sue Trump!! discovery would be amazing. That is a phase of litigation. With your lack of education it's safe to say you don't know what that entails. You should look it up. I don't think you would be for the suit after you educate yourself a little bit.

you know who, self admittedly at that, does listen to Alex Jones? see if you can guess...
Meh. Everyone at least admits he was sureveilled. I did expect more. So for that I will eat crow. That story is not over yet. If you want to know my real disappointment, it is with Trump supporting that awful health care bill. Now...if you can't express your feelings without cursing...perhaps you are too emotional about this...or maybe lack of education limits your vocabulary.
you wouldn't understand what the first page of his tax returns say. No way you would understand schedules of income to Corps and partnerships. You clearly have not educated yourself on what goes into tax returns. Additionally, in a libel or slander suit...what potentially discoverable material would you find in them that would justify a motion to compel? For someone who makes fun of other posters educations....you sure don't know a lot.
