I'm sure this was posted somewhere but I just saw it for the first time--this is the ACLU's well-written response to Va Gov McAuliffe

excerpt:
quote:

It is the responsibility of law enforcement to ensure safety of both protesters and counter-protesters. The policing on Saturday was not effective in preventing violence. I was there and brought concerns directly to the secretary of public safety and the head of the Virginia State Police about the way that the barricades in the park limiting access by the arriving demonstrators and the lack of any physical separation of the protesters and counter-protesters on the street were contributing to the potential of violence. They did not respond. In fact, law enforcement was standing passively by, seeming to be waiting for violence to take place, so that they would have grounds to declare an emergency, declare an ‘unlawful assembly’ and clear the area.

I can't keep up with the Charlottesville discussion on here because it has dominated the board for days. Has anyone posted or can someone post a complete timeline of events in Charlottesville, from July 8 forward? The ACLU touches on some of the permitting and lawsuit, but I haven't seen it laid out in timeline form.

The stuff that comes up on Google searches is reductionist and selective at best.

I know one thing, the ACLU deserves credit for defending the right here. THey don't always do so, so it's important to recognize that when they do.

The story about the police should be the biggest. Frick the Nazis and Antifa. Both suck are are violent.

If there was a stand down order then who gave it, when and why?

Follow that and we get answers. Yet, MSM doesn't seem to care.

Was coming to post this. There are rumors that Tim Kaine was gifted the VP slot on her campaign in return for the work he did to clean up for McAuliffe.

Not only a "stand down," but the police literally pushed the protesters into the crowd of counter-protesters when they rescinded the permit. They fricked up pretty badly.

Infowars was the first to report police were ordered to stand down as they were receiving the order.

They seem to be ahead of everyone as usual.

Great point. Mc Auliffe and that Mayor and Vice Mayor have blood on their hands..I think the AG should order that the identity of the person that issued the stand down be reveled to the public. They know who did it.
