ACA vs something new..

What is affordable about the current ACA? What is affordable when it now costs me $1400+ per month to have insurance for my family? That's $16,800+ in premiums a year before I even start on my deductible. It seems most talking points are about taking away health care. ACA is not health care it's insurance and prior to ACA people were still able to get health care. One size does not fit all and we need to make another change.
Oh the pre-existing conditions are now covered. In the past if you had insurance prior to the condition you were covered. My daughter was born with a heart condition (turned out to be minor and not major but similar to what Jimmy Kimmel's son was born with). Since we had insurance prior to birth she was covered. No surgery required but she needs an EKG and other tests yearly. This costs us about $2,000 and we gladly pay it and if she eventually needs a "procedure" (as they call it; I call it surgery) we will cover what insurance doesn't. We have to pay the costs for the EKG out of our pocket because the deductible is soooo high now. I long for the days of paying $6,000 in premium and having a $1,000 deductible. You know back before it was "Affordable".
At the end of the day this is insurance and not health care.
While the guys in charge (Dems) 7 years ago rammed this down our throats; the new guys in charge (Repb) are no better. The republicans bitched and moaned about the ACA since it was passed and now 7 years latter they don't have an agreed upon solution.
We need affordable insurance and new representatives in the Congress and Senate that actually listen to and care about their constituents.

Look on the brighter side of life. ObamaCare is saving the average family $2500/family/year.
Without the law you would pay $19,300+ in premiums a year!

Unfortunately I don't qualify for average family. Working 2 jobs making about 60 grand altogether with 4 kids. My deductible went from $500 a person to $4,000 a person, prescription from $200 a person to $2,000 and then 20% once met, used to be $7 once met, and we pay $30 out of pocket for dental cleaning, used to pay 0. Oh and I pay an extra $230 more a month then what I used to. ACA has been wonderful!!
But I enjoy how people can show me a bunch of stats and google links proving how great it is, like I'm supposed to care when I personally know how it affected me and many people I know.

That's an anecdote. We only care about facts and data here.
And you're just too stupid to understand that your current plan is better because you fall for Fox News propaganda.
(There, now GumpAtl doesn't have to bother responding.)

Dude, get your daughter the insurance and just pay out of pocket for you and your wife. Probably save 10k a year. You could even put the 10k in a HSA.

ACA is just a wealth redistribution plan disguised as insurance. ACHA is an attempt to reduce the distribution. ACA should be junked completely.

Liberals love the fact you are getting raked on your HC. What an a-hole.

I'll hit a couple of his other talking points...
It's only a small percentage of people in a situation like this. Premiums are rising slowly for 99% of people.
Republican obstruction prevents this law from being perfect.

bullshite....pure grade A prime bull shite. Before ACA my annual max out of pocket was $7,480 for my family. Post this socialized bullshite my max out of pocket is $17,100 and because my previous healthcare insurance was "too good" thus subject to the Cadillac Tax they had to greatly dumb down our insurance....because we can't have insurance better than what they provided the entitlement class...even though I work my arse off while they take handouts left & right!!!!!

The Cadillac tax was pushed out until 2020 so if your employer blamed it for lowerIng benefits or contributions they lied to you.
I fully agree the Cadillac tax is bs btw.

I'll handle Otto's talking points too.
OP is a selfish deadbeat. His old plan was being subsidized by responsible people who were properly insured. He was costing the rest of us dearly.

Something like 50% of businesses went ahead & implemented the Cadillac Tax to get ahead of the initial date of 2018 which was then pushed out to 2020.

I know, I pay in much more than I get and don't believe in socialism. And BS, most people's premiums have increased dramatically while their "coverage" has decreased.
frick Obama, frick pelosi, frick democracies that want to take the money I work for and give it to bottom dwelling "takers" that don't work whatsoever. So understand, this one POS bill moved me so far away from the Dems that I can't fathom ever voting "blue" again!
