Look. I'm no fan of people abandoning their pets but there's a LOT of assumption in that link.

You are stupid if you believe that article. If they were going to abandon their pets for a 4th of July party, they would not stand in line to do it.

This happens around every military installation during the summer moving season -- an uptick in abandoned dogs.

Cats can survive after being abandoned but the dogs just suffer a slow, grinding, painful death from starvation and exhaustion -- and they never stop looking around for the owners that abandoned them.

I believe it because I've OBSERVED it.

They do stand in line, trust me.

No you didn't.

FYI: That was the line for the Spay/Neuter program.

A true story that I have not thought about in over 20 years. It happened in a college dining area. As I recall there were 4 guys at the table. My friend mentioned it was the opening of hunting season next week.

I said "I don't hunt."
A guy I did not know said "I hunt."
My friend: "What game?"
The guy: "I hunt ducks, rabbits, anything. I load up my hound and her new litter of pups when they're old enough. I take 100 rounds of ammo. Half for the rabbits and half for the pups."

Me: "What do you mean 'for the pups.'
The guy: "I let them out of the truck and if they go after the trail they'll be good hunting dogs. If they don't go after the trail I shoot them."

I didn't want to make a scene. So, I just got up and walked out.

I later asked some hunting friends about this and they said "Yes, there are some low class scum who don't want to go to the trouble of training hounds. So they just shoot them."

Pleease. Think about it. A website takes a picture of a line of people with their pets. And they attach a story about a 4th of July party (oh, that's right, next week is the 4th) about animal abuse that has no credibility. If that is true I will give you a million dollars. Does that picture look like a military installation? That website and 'rescue group' is shady at best.

Would it be wrong to use "free kittens" for shark bait?

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I'm not commenting on the website article. I was whining about having to watch abandoned dogs suffer and die. I should be more hard-hearted, I know. The Universe is very cruel.

Dogs can be very bad. For example, I'm typing this with my right hand because my Aussie is batting my left arm with his two front paws which means "Daddy, I want a snack. I haven't eaten in at least 3 hours."

I have to log off now and see what's in the fridge.

If these dogs were purebred instead of mutts they'd be worth $500 to $1300 and wouldn't be abandoned.

People who truly care about animals would stop this dumb love affair with (worthless) mutts and push purebreds again

Good lord that article is a piece of shite. The first line puts 'SNARR' in Houston. Except it's not. It's in Quinter, Kansas.

Nobody would abandon a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in a Leonard Fournette LSU jersey

Isn't it possible that the line is made up of people who are abandoning their pets, and also people who are coming to adopt. Unless there is a separate entrance, it seems that maybe we're jumping to conclusions.

Besides their website states:

**INTAKE HOLD AS OF FEBURARY 24 2017**
quote:

SNARR is not currently accepting any new animals.
Seems pointless to stand in line to abandon a pet at a place which is unable to accept the pet.
