What are y’all taught to do in a firefight besides shoot back. Move forward or stay put? I am asking because I want to know what to do if I am ever caught in a situation like what happened in Las Vegas

If you are advancing a fire line, it's different than being shot at randomly...
If it's the latter, take cover is first, then assess, communicate...
Run the SALUTE reporting...etc.

I honestly don’t know what the hell I would do if I was in that situation. I guess first thing I would try is to keep my wits about me and think rationally and then go from there

Run hide fight in that order.

If Game of Thrones taught me anything, it's to serpentine.

I guess it’s just common sense shite then

I learned that from watching The In Laws. “Serpentine, Shelly, serpentine!”

Assessing the situation is first, but you've gotta move as fast as you can and avoid the bottlenecks as much as possible.

There is no one way.
Am I in a group?
Am I alone?
Do I know for sure where the fire is coming from?
Is there cover within my immediate area? Cover, not concealment.
If no cover, where is the nearest cover?
I could go on.
But, me personally, assuming I was alone and I identified where the fire was coming from.......and, I could see that I was within but not near the edge of the kill zone, I'm running TOWARDS the hotel.
Why? Because you would be using the building as your cover knowing he was high up and not likely to shoot straight down.
Absent cover, almost anywhere else is in the firing line.

Take cover, assess and identify targets, fight.

That's ABSOLUTELY step 1.
Knee jerk is to run.....but run where?
If you don't see quick cover, you could actually be running IN to the kill zone.

unfair to compare what military and or police are trained to do with what you as a civilian, even if you are armed, should do.
In a situation like in Vegas where it is initially unclear where the shooter(s) is/are, a civilians best bet is to run and hide and use any weapon they may have to defend their position.
Policeman, and military are trained to engage the enemy, especially military, but police too, they are in fact obligated to attempt to prevent further shootings.
But if you're just a random civilian it's better if you don't try to play hero, the police are already busy enough just trying to deal with a shooter without having to try to differentiate between a hero with a gun and a bad guy shooter.

I was surprised to see that no one ran towards the stage in the videos that I saw. It was the largest open area in the front.

In a heavy crowd where he's not specifically aiming at you, I think that might be a bad idea. Would only slow you down and possibly trip yourself and others.

This would have to be classified as a far ambush - so, break contact and disengage.
If a close ambush and the option is there - you assault through the ambush.

Get to cover and exfiltrate yourself from the situation. If you can't, then get as much cover as you can and barricade. If you have the means to fight back at range, do so from very good cover.
Also, because of how you may be classified by first responders, be prepared to identify yourself and cease when ordered.
