On Saturday, less than a week after the cough first appeared, Callie died at 37 days old on Jan. 30, 2010. It wasn't until a few weeks later that tests confirmed the culprit: whooping cough.

quote:

It's especially serious in infants, who are more likely to catch it. About 50 percent of all children under a year old who catch whooping cough need to be hospitalized, and up to 2 percent of them die, according to the CDC.

quote:

Since children aren't due for their whooping cough vaccine -- called TDaP -- until they are 2 months old, the CDC recommends it for pregnant women so they can pass along the immunity to their unborn children.

Just a little public service announcement that needs to be given because some people are stupid.

Having your child vaccinated violates Christian teachings because it goes against god's will of deciding your child's fate.

That's where this problem starts

What? It starts with whacked out liberals who think toxins and chemtrails are more significant threats than crime, disease or terrorism.

It makes no sense to vaccinate your child if you believe that all of your strength/life comes from above

What the frick are you talking about?

A very small minority of the anti-vaccine movement is comprised of religious types, and they are primarily Jehovah's witnesses. And even in their case, the reason behind their anti-vaccine stance has nothing to do with the nonsense you just typed.

You are missing my point. Vaccinating your child is a decision that reveals distrust in your Heavenly Father.

The people who believe vaccines for children are bad run the gamete of religious to liberal to conservative to "tin foil hat wearing" to ignorance to people who have seen it actually happen.

I have a friend who took his daughter, who was 2 or 3 and normal, to get a vaccine (do not recall which), the child went into immediate shock and had to be taken to the hospital from the clinic she was at. She is now autistic, she will never be able to speak. There has never been a medical answer to what happened.

That said, I got all my vaccines when I was a kid (including small pox), got all the boosters I needed when I went to the far east back in the 90's. I will not get the annual flu shots, just this year the virus already mutated to the point the current vaccine is effectively useless.

The only anti-vaxxer I know is a crazily devout Catholic.

I know anti-vaccine people across the spectrum.

Certainly, there is a subset of religious nutjobs but they are joined by general conspiracy nuts and a few other categories.

And, they are ALL f'n stupid on this subject.

Quite possibly the dumbest thing you have posted on Tigerdroppings and that is saying a lot. Perhaps you should not post everything that pops into your head.

I don't get your point at all. Christians I know view it as using a tool god provided us with.

Except when those toxins are in birth control pills. Then everyone must be forced to pay for their pills.

So does allowing a boat or helicopter to rescue you in a flood...

The doctor quoted above has one heck of a history of rejecting usual treatments.

Show me...from my anecdotal experience this insanity knows no political ideology.
