Ive always found this funny. It doesn't happen very often to me
But once I caught someone not doing a good job of following me incognito. So I turned around and asked"may I help you" so politely. She got scared and walked away very embarassed. Needless to say they didnt get my business. The way i see it, if you dont respect my business, you wont receive my business. Simple as that

The thing that struck me about the article was how he mentions in passing he doesn't "want to give his kids a complex about this." With his attitude they most definitely will have a complex. They'll get older and read this piece their own father wrote and it will shape them.

Well, that seems racist.

It is all about personal perspective. A man's perception may be that others think he's an affirmative action beneficiary. Even though others actually don't see him that way. It's a situation of false perception ingraining as personal truth. The most anyone can hope to have come out of conversations like this is an attempt to see things through the other man's eyes.

Half the issues are administrative...

Teachers leave because they don't feel supported.

Still, i am of the opinion you could build the nicest schools and have best of best and students from rough areas couldn't care less.

Participation in school is selling out to white culture ...

How do we overcome this mindset?

Yeah! Its not racism! Its facts man! 70% of shoplifters are white and retail stores lose more to theft by employees than shoplifting. But if they have a gold tooth and cornrows you just KNOW they're up to no good!

BTW I know one white lady whose probably shoplifted more over time than all the black people you've ever met in your life. Every year for Christmas she would bring a pick-up truck load of shite she had lifted to her daughter and son-in-law for them and their children. And that was just the gifts for them, and for that one holiday. She went on like this for decades before being caught.

Huh? I thought the only reason he succeeded was because of his white privilege.

My ex worked in a small mall store where occasionally, she was the only employee in the store. Then, there was a rash of groups of black girls coming into the store and their routine was that when she would go help them, some stood between her and the phone at the counter while others literally filled bags and walked out.

After a while, if a group of black girls came into the store, she remained behind the counter. I'm sure some non criminal black girls took this as "racism" and, they were wrong. It's called experience.

In stores that routinely get robbed by both races, I suspect that employees closely monitor both races but, even then, I'll bet you $100 that every black who gets followed thinks THEY are being followed due to racism.

Finally, I have been followed in a store a few times in my life. Occasionally, if I'm just wandering about in a store, I've noticed that I have someone hovering. I typically realize that to them, my aimless wandering can seem odd.

Bottom line though. Even if a store employee followed EVERY customer, blacks would still say THEY were being followed "cause they're black" because they wouldn't be aware of the following of whites too.

Moreover, ya sort of can't win for losing. I've seen blacks complain that they don't get helped as promptly cause they're black and I've seen blacks complain that the employee is "helping" to keep an eye on them. Basically, their default is "that's racist!!!!!"

The problem with everyone is they keep saying "whites", "blacks", etc...

I even do it out of habit. However, I think it immediately translates into race.
