This topic came up at a lunch yesterday - when we saw a young transgender on the tv at the restaurant we were eating in. The little "girl" determined all by hisself/herself that he/she was a girl and not a boy, according to his/her parents.

One of my co-workers, who happens to be from India, asked the question, "If a six-year old is old enough to determine that they should undergo a sex change, is it not a reasonable next step to say that they are also old enough to determine whether or not to have sexual relations with an adult?"

That was very thought provoking. Nobody at the table could disagree with him. Having sex is certainly a lot less traumatic than having a sex change operation.

Liberals across America are now trying to find a way to One-Up that one. How dare that family beat them to enlightenment.

There isn't much difference between transgender obsession with children and pedophelia. They are both mental disorders that can permanently damage a child physically, emotionally, and mentally.

The people pushing for this should be viewed and treated the same way we treat pedophiles. Get them professional help and keep them away from children.

I was eating paste at 6. Jesus fricking Christ. There is no way this child came to this conclusion independently. And I thought my parents were shitty.

Agreed. How is it even possible that seemingly intelligent people can fall for this crap?

It's a fair point.

If a child is responsible enough to make such a lifelong decision, who says they aren't capable of consent?

Thanks for getting us back on track. I want to dis use this from the point of view of what could happen if we were to normalize transgender children.

"a child is presented with two identical beakers containing the same amount of liquid. The child usually notes that the beakers do contain the same amount of liquid. When one of the beakers is poured into a taller and thinner container, children who are younger than seven or eight years old typically say that the two beakers no longer contain the same amount of liquid, and that the taller container holds the larger quantity (centration), without taking into consideration the fact that both beakers were previously noted to contain the same amount of liquid. Due to superficial changes, the child was unable to comprehend that the properties of the substances continued to remain the same (conservation)."

This is a famous concept from Piaget.... The kid shouldn't understand that water from 1 container poured into another is still the same amount of water, but the child can apparently deduce that they were born with the wrong genitals.

One of the ways to destroy the family foundation is through the constant sexualization of children. You already see it in TV & movies, and Salon published an article saying pedophiles are not bad people.

This is where progressivism is going. If they keep winning these social battles, then it will not be long before they are trying to normalize pedophilia.

this will make you sick to your stomach, it is in PARENTS MAGAZINE of all places...

My Child Is Transgender: This Is How I Know

We were in bed, my arm around her shoulder, her body warm and soft. I gave my 4-year-old a squeeze. "Night-night, buttercup." So tired, as always, I slid one calf from the Spider-Man comforter, my foot onto the floor.

"What happens when we die?"

There was anxiety. I'm not ready for this. Not now. Then a deep breath. A sigh. "Well, honey..." A long pause.

Then, finally, "No one knows for sure. Some people believe that nothing happens. Others say you go to heaven and are reunited with your loved ones, and then there's reincarnation -- that you are born again as a baby and you start over."

I expected questions that I wouldn't be able to answer: What is heaven like? How does reincarnation work? Isn't nothing scary?

"I believe in reincarnation," my 4-year-old announced, confidently. "And when I come back, I'm going to be a boy, and my name will be Shane."

My breath caught in my throat. What did she just say?

Until that moment, I'd seen my rough-and-tumble girl as a tomboy who loved mud puddles, forts, superheroes, zombies, and Hot Wheels. Brave and true, she was 35 pounds of adorable awesomeness.

Or was it more than that? Didn't she always choose the boy pieces in Chutes and Ladders? Weren't her closest friends boys? Did she ever once play with the My Little Pony she got for Christmas? Hadn't every pink or purple outfit ended up in the Goodwill bag, unworn? Didn't she enjoy it when other people mistook her for a boy?

Did she want to be a boy so badly that she was looking forward to death and a do-over?

It's nothing. I'm just tired. Don't make too much of it.

I gave her a squeeze. I rolled out of her bed and soon I was climbing into my own and falling asleep.

What if the child had said, "I will be reincarnated as an African Elephant." Would she have allowed her daughter to become a transpecies lunatic?

Two years later, toward the beginning of first grade, I got a call from the school nurse. My daughter, the nurse explained, had peed in her pants in the middle of the cafeteria.

I rushed to the school with a dry pair of pants and underwear.

"What happened?" I asked.

Isabel was silent.

"Did you wait too long? Are you feeling sick?"

It would be hours before she would tell me, "I couldn't hold it."

"Why do you think you have to hold it?" I asked.

"I can't use the bathroom," she said.

There was anger in my throat. What teacher doesn't allow children to use the bathroom?

"I'll talk to your teacher. This is crazy," I said.

"No, mommy," she said. "It's not the teacher. I can't go because I'm not allowed in the boys' bathroom and I don't belong in the girls' bathroom."
