The Sewerage and Water Board is now counting a total of 16 pumps out of service as of Thursday morning (Aug. 10), raising the number of pumps from 14 that City Council members were told Tuesday were not working.

16 down. How many weren't even turned on because of apathy and/or incompetence?

It's too bad Mitch was busy running for president.

Could have started fixing pumps instead of removing statues, but noooooooooo. Mitch says no.

You build a city below the flow line of one of the largest rivers in the world, you elect idiots to government office which in turn appoint idiots to manage the functions of the city, AND you expect everything to be all peaches and ice cream...

It is nice to dream, I suppose...

How much does it cost to maintain a pump? How much does it cost to remove a statue and pay overtime to all the police providing security? Compare the two. Remove this clown from office.

Even Aaron Broussard would be embarrassed by that level of incompetence.

the statues isnt what we are critizing. Its the amount of attention and budget spent on something so moronic. Especially when compared to oh, you know... making sure the pumps work.

So am I correct in assuming these pumps are only used during flooding, so they have been sitting there for years and when they are finally needed, they failed?

If true, Mitch should be run out of town.

THIS is what people complain about regarding the statues. Misplaced funds and priorities.
