Saw a lot of confusion on the defensive side of the ball at times. We played well but it seemed that we were confused at times with too many players on the field, busted coverages, etc. Is this an indication of defensive coaching or lack thereof? Wanted to see if any others observed same and should we be concerned?

i think auburn's uptempo no-huddle offense caused some confusion. this shouldn't be too big of an issue in the remaining games

I brought this up in another thread and in my opinion it is the coaches taking too long to make the defensive call. Somebody has to get quicker at decision making.

I believe it is an indicator of a young defensive backfield.

Agree. But may cost us in the future. Will be interesting to see.

Interesting...there is a point in the second half (sorry don't remember exactly when) where, during a wide shot of the field, C. Taylor is clearly frustrated as he motions to the sideline to relay the play. They ended up burning a timeout. Wonder if anyone else noticed this.

Yes, and the players have done that to the sidelines several times.

Saw a lot of discussion between players when they should be set attempting to get their reads.

I am in awe at how the defense hasn't really taken any steps back from last yr. I mean yeah our corners are all young, but they did a great job, I really like how the new D-coaches are rotating SO MANY d-linemen, we have the depth there we should us them.

The big plays from Auburn were times when Todd would run around out of the pocket and hit a wide open guy, but as an agressive D you trust that your d-line gets good penetration, IMO auburn picked up our line pretty well in those big plays

I think they will get better and better

I believe the team as a whole is better than they actually performed against Auburn and will get better. We have a great opportunity since we're so good in the trenches.

We have yet to play against a quality, well-balanced and physical team capable of throwing the ball to quality receivers......

we will see that to some extent with FL, GA, and maybe even Bama....I mention Bama because their OLine looks to be doing an excellent job in run blocking and pass protection....if Wilson has enough time, he will hit some big passes to their fairly talented receiving corp.....

our DB's are very young and talented, and overall have done a decent job, but they will definitely need to get much better and coordinated to beat all of the above teams.

Does our youth at DB not allow us to play press coverage like previous years. Opinion?

Your attention, please. Paging Doug Mallory & Bradley Dale Peveto. Mr. Mallory & Mr. Peveto please report immediately to Coach Miles ... youre being called on the carpet.

This is the correct answer. Miles even mentioned it in his presser ... Their type of no-huddle offense makes it hard for the defense to make calls and substitutions. Most offenses we will face don't run that type of no-huddle offense.

Even if they do, we're obviously fine. It was a pretty solid defensive effort for the most part.

Absolutely that was it, coupled with the fact that, after LSU's D would get set, the Auburn offense would relax and get another signal from the sideline to counter the defensive alignment that LSU had. I am amazed the D wasn't more confused.
