Playing In Dallas Huge Opportunity......

I think this could be a very good opportunity for the program as a whole. I know everyone wants to watch the tigers play in Baton Rouge. But just think about some positive notes of playing in Dallas.
- Very Very good for recruiting. Everyone knows the talent that comes out of Texas every year. How many times has LSU got to play in UT and A&M back yard?
- This will spread the LSU fever it will give people a chance to watch LSU who may never have before(this is how ND got so big).

The latest forecasts have Ike headed to Texas. I would rather LSU not go there during a hurricane.

I, as an objective observer, think this is a GREAT idea!

um no, i want to watch them in Tiger Stadium (call me old fashioned), oh that and I have bought just about all the gas I would like to buy for the rest of the year and could use the break not having to drive to dallas.
i see the point but i want to go to a freaking game already it is killing me, app state seems like it was last year

Once in a life time chance to see the Tigers in Texas Stadium.

Agreed. That's same logic for playing a neutral site game at Reliant Stadium from time to time.
It's just a shame the opportunity comes at such an expense this time.

Here we go again! Of course I'm not against playing in Dallas or Houston or Shreveport, etc., IF, AND ONLY IF we absolutely cannot play in Tiger Stadium. But I would be totally against this for any other reason. The reason - there are many, many, MANY more benefits to recruiting by playing in Tiger Stadium as opposed to other sites, including, a LOUDER stadium, game day on-campus atmosphere for recruits to see, recruits being exposed to the game-day traditions, routine, etc, etc. While there is some (small) benefit to playing in other cities, it just DOES NOT compare to Tiger Stadium. Period. End of story.

Here's the latest report I've seen. Sorry if it's already been posted.
NO DECISION TO COME MONDAY ON LSU-NORTH TEXAS GAME SITE, according to the following press relase issued by LSU:
BATON ROUGE – LSU officials will continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Ike before determining whether the LSU vs. North Texas game needs to be moved to an alternative site. That decision will not be made on Monday.
LSU is scheduled to play North Texas Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
Last week, as recovery efforts began following the impact of Hurricane Gustav and as Hurricane Ike’s path began to take shape, LSU officials contacted both the Louisiana Superdome and Texas Stadium to make contingency plans in the event the LSU-North Texas game could not be played in Tiger Stadium.
“We are going to watch Hurricane Ike closely and make a decision that is in the best interests of everyone concerned,” said director of athletics Joe Alleva. “We are sensitive to the hardship that a change of location could have on our fans, but it is imperative that the Tigers play this week as it would be very difficult to reschedule the game. Our intention is to play in Tiger Stadium, but we will move the game to another site if necessary to play the game.”
LSU has determined that damage inflicted to Tiger Stadium by Hurricane Gustav can be repaired in time for a Saturday game. Now the determining factor will be the path of Hurricane Ike and its anticipated impact on south Louisiana.
“We are not going to set an artificial deadline for making this decision,” Alleva said. “We have put things in motion to be able to move to an alternative site, and we cannot wait until the last minute to change locations, but we are going to watch this storm closely and evaluate all of the facts with great deliberation in order to make the right decision.”

Wouldn't we be able to have local Texas recruits on the sideline and it not count as an official visit? Seems like someone mentioned that when we were talking about playing in Reliant. This would be big for recruiting, if true.

___________
The official forecast is a compromise between the models below. The more accurate ones this year are the ones projecting landfall in central LA --- with BR on the east side of the storm.

It doesn't even have to be a neutral site game, do a home and away or 2-1, with Rice. Play the Houston game over Labor Day weekend- Reliant would be packed.

Purely from a football sense, playing a "road" game at Dallas or even N.O. would give the players the chance to go through that routine so it will be more familiar against Auburn. And to get used to playing in a different environment.

Real world - so would Tiger Stadium, with MORE SEATS!!!!!

Real world - it would be better to play in N.O. IF, AND ONLY IF, you can't play in TS.
Real world - what good will it do for recruits to see LSU play 1 game in Reliant? So they can say "you know, before I came to LSU, they played 1 game in Reliant". If you're not going to do it WHILE they are playing, what good is it?
Some people just want to have something else, something different, no matter if what they already have actually works! Do yourself a favor - learn to do a cost-benefit analysis and don't solely focus on the so-called "benefit" to playing in Houston, Dallas, Shreveport, etc. Don't forget the "costs" factor. It'll change your life.

Hears what I don't get: Some come on here and are so opposed to playing this game ANYWHERE ELSE BUT TIGER STADIUM OR THE SUPERDOME. Now, If the hurricane comes in the Gulf and does go more westwardly, isn't it the Eastern side of the storm that is the worst? And just where would that put NO/BR geographically? I'll answer: to the EAST. Now, I would love for the game to be played in Tiger Stadium, but if a. it's not ready, and b. Ike is looming, why is Shreveport's Independence Stadium a bad idea? Cause the coon-asses (and I use that explective with pride, not in a derogatory way) have to drive 4-5 hours North? Or is it because they only think the Superdome is the ONLY other place they should play? Think about it realistically: Keep the game INSTATE, Keep the revenue INSTATE. Shreveport does have a lot to offer: Several Casinos, The Boardwalk, Bass Pro, and lots of great restaurants.
Before you all go jumping all on this: THINK FOR A MINUTE! Wouldn't you rather it be an in state game than having to go to Dallas?

I'm not sure if Dallas is even on top of the list anymore...
If Ike holds its current course, we are looking at a possible mandatory evacuation of Houston(i.e. contraflow interstates and highways, zero hotel availabilities, etc.). For the same reasons App St got moved to 10 AM, the more that storm aims at Houston, the less likely Dallas will be the location for this game, should they move it.

I think we should move the game to the big house so that they could see what a real football team looks like.
