Why not? Can you imagine the big “3” in the backfield at the same time – or even two of those guys with a fullback?

Don’t laugh; it got us an NC in 1958.

OK – I might have just had a “senior moment” – but why not?

That would be pretty cool. And you can put Mr. Holiday in at reciever at the same time to give an added dimension.

Lets bring back the spinning fullback as well.
And by the way Josh, football is a game of cycles. A lot of what Florida runs with Tebow is older than all of us.

There is only one ball on the field.

Exactly. Screw the forward pass, it wasn't around for the first few years of football. Let's get back to run-only offense.

Airforce lacks the skilled players and big linemen so they run a modified Wishbone and have a running QB (a few pass plays) with good success.

correct, they have good success against shitty teams, and we don't lack the skilled players and big lineman

I actually wouldn't mind seeing KW, CS and Ridley in the backfield with JJ at the same time.

It doesn't work as a full time offense, but if the ball got returned to the 10 yard line and you came out in the wishbone, the defense would likely have to call a timeout after the first two plays and wouldn't be able to stop the series.

Seriously, none of these kids know what the wishbone is and most HS don't run it, so the likely hood that they know what to do is very slim.

Don't think Crowton hasn't considered some form of the T or wishbone with the guys they have. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I think people were saying the same thing when we had Kevin Faulk and Kendall Cleveland aka Thunder and Lightning ......

The Wishbone, or the "I" formation can be very affective if you have the guys to perform it..and we are more than qualified in that area. Actually not a bad idea..there are so many plays that can resolve from this formation, and can scare a defense if they are being very agressive with the front 7. You put D. Byrd in the slot, and you could possibly have the most dangerous formation in college football. If J. Jefferson's passing comes around..him in this formation would be successful.

Damn, you got me there. Guess we don’t have to have more than the QB, one receiver or one back on the field at any one time – right?

Or, you might just run a fake cross-buck to one halfback, flare the fullback, and a short pitch to the other halfback. Or, flare both halfbacks and draw with the fullback – or, etc, etc, etc.

they put up a shite load of yards against cal FWIW.

I say we should run a little wishbone. think about it. you have JJ at QB, Quinn Johnson at FB, Stephen Ridley at one HB and Charles Scott at the other. You could run power ISOs, sweeps, options, option passes, slants and passes to the RBs in the flats (which is apparently the only pass plays we will run this year according to this board).
