First, I thought Matt Flynn was an excellent college QB.

But if the coaches can get these young QB's to just manage the talent around them, I think this team can actually be better than last years team.

He was good and didn't really get the experience needed to be 'excellent'.

I think it's all relative. Getting one of the backs to be a 1500-200 yard runner would help. As would having a defense that only allows 14-17 points a game. The 2 games we lost last year were shoot-outs. if the defense would have only given up 20 in those 2 games we are undefeated.

Is that particular back going to get every carry? You think one back is going to rush for 1500 yards? I do like your analysis of LSU's losses last year though, if only they coulda given up less points than the other team...

I also feel that this team will be more talented top to bottom. Remember that last year's team had to replace 4 first round picks and still won the BCS title.

Really? Do you honestly think this can happen with the stable of backs we have?

Maybe not one guy, but the top three RB's all averaged more YPC than Hester. Can you say 7 yards and a cloud of dust.

If Flynn was returning or RP was here LSU would have been ramked Preseason #1!

Think about it RP was let go, and Les is playing it as cool as can be. Skip hired Les he told him of the potential at LSU to win Multiple Championships. The national media hype is else where, and this team gets to develope without that microscope.

Because they weren't every down backs. They got the ball in space a lot more than an every down back and took advantage of special play calls for certain situations. If you're implying that these guys will average 7 yards a carry, then

That has crossed my mind.

It was a play on words actually, but I do think they will still out perform Hester. This is not a knock on Hester. I just feel that these guys will still be used similarly to last year and get the job done.

Jacob Hester 225 1103 4.9 12
Keiland Williams 70 478 6.8 6
Trindon Holliday 53 364 6.9 2
Charles Scott 45 324 7.2 5
Richard Murphy 35 230 6.6 2

Give KW, CS & RM each 70+ more carries and you may not need to throw the ball very much. You still don't need an every down back. Trust in the Wizard.

You're wasting your fingertips though your point's well taken. Some of the people on here slavishly rely on certain, specific statistics and make broad, sweeping generalizations about who is the "better" back without looking at the overall picture.

Somebody did not watch the Bama game, or the Ky game, or the Ole Miss game....

Flynn was a servicable to good QB, I dont see where Lee will be any different. MF made some boneheaded plays that would be consistent with a first year starter, much like we should expect from our QBs this year.
