Don't get me wrong, that was a huge win for them. But I don't get the hype about this team. People just talk about the Michigan win. What about the losses to Wofford and Georgia Southern? I could understand a little more if they went undefeated, but outside of Michigan, they play nobody. They also had a couple of close wins against some inferior teams as well. I believe if they p;ayed Michigan another 10 times, they wouldn't win one.

I think most of it was the element of surprise. Michigan started to regain control of the game, but too little, too late. I had never heard of them until they played LSU in 2005. I didn't see the game, so I was following it online and I could not figure out why LSU was not putting up more points. I think they caught LSU by surprise then, as well. I can't see that happening again, IMO.

If they beat us this year, it will be for real. I just don't see it happening. We will be prepared.

They won't catch us napping. We need to win big too to keep the "no qb...off year...miles sucks..." downer shite to a minimum. My only concern is that we don't blow them out, which could easily happen.

We will blow them out... and blow them out BADLY.

This game won't be nearly as competitive as many are saying.

Damn right they will be, but it just won't happen. Frankly I'm more concerned about Troy than Appy State, not that they'll win but they'll keep it too close for comfort and come out swinging. Tigers will be ready for Appy.

The hype was David beats Goliath, something that had never been done and is a piece of football history. That's the key word...history. We even think about Michigan without preparation against LSu and it will ranks as one of the biggest losses in history. By the way Wofford almost beat Wisconsin, not that the Big Ten means anything anymore other that media nostalgia. We know we could be in for a beatdown but we will give you as good a game as we can. Regardless the headline could read" Goliath smacks David"

Got my 10 tickets! I'm in the nose bleed..surprise! upper deck 632 AA

Last year App St. shocked the world, as they were outmanned at every single position. Michigan was already thinking about the next week, when they would get a Pac-10/Big 10 match up versus Oregon.

They didn't take App St. seriously, they were already thinking ahead to Oregon, and paid the price.

This isn't just some middle of the road program either, this is the Michigan Wolverines. We're talking about a team full of kids who turned down dozens of scholarships to Div. 1-A schools only to ride the pine for the Wolverines. The complete flipside to that is App. St. The best players on their entire team would be 2nd and 3rd string at Michigan, if they could even make the squad.

They caught Michigan napping, if they played today Michigan would win by 40+. Michigan's demise last year put the target on App. St. They will not be able to sneak up on a sleeping giant again for quite some time. LSU will pound the shite out of them.

Go ahead and look forward to Troy and Auburn. Don't prepare for us. I just hope that your players don't embarrass themselves by a bunch of chest thumping antics.

I think it's just the opposite, if anyting I think LSU, or at least fans, are overpreparing for Appy State.

IMHO Appy is legit, and will not be taken lightly. They would do very well in the MWC, WAC or C-USA, heck probably finish 4th or 5th in the Big 10.

Oh... but we WILL be prepared for you. Let me ask you something: What is it about LSU that makes you think we WON'T be prepared for this game?

Do you really think our players, who have been pushing iron and busting arse for MONTHS aren't ready to fricking destroy you on opening day?

Let me give you a little preview of what's going to happen: the team that will be unprepared is App State. App State will be unprepared for the sheer level of violence that's waiting for them on opening day. I'm not even talking about scoring points yet. LSU is college football's most brutal team. Right now, every single player on LSU's team, including the kicker... is dreaming of physically obliterating your team.

No... I don't think we'll be "surprised" by you.

Your team will be lucky to score 10 points in this game. You go ahead and take my name down right now. You come here after the game and give me shite if we don't beat you by 20. Quote me all you like.

This game will be a total blowout.

I went into to the UM game thinking it would be a for my boys in black. It 's THE Big house, UM in the top 10(yes they were over rated at the time) If you haven't watched the game you should check it out. Try to watch as an App fan. The ups and downs were crazy. From UM's 1st drive for a quick 6(oh shite going to be ugly ) to taking the lead( we got a chance) UM comeback(nice dream)... to the block at the end. It was the crazy. It was a great story. In my mind it will be the greatest upset in CFB history.

ESPN is a fine tuned hype machine. They're taking the champs vs champs and playing it up. It's played opening weekend so they have had all summer to talk it up. Have you guys ever talked this much about a 1-aa opener. Not just the game but the team you're facing. It makes for some good converstation in the dog days before the season starts. I've not seen anyone in the press picking App.. there just looking to see how it plays out.
I'm going to the game looking forward to a great day of football and to enjoy the atmosphere.Dreaming of a repeat but not looking for it. But feeling we can make a good showing and represent the school, conf, and subdivison well

well the reason it sticks out so much is it put the iconic stamp on this season of upsets. granted it wasn't even the biggest upset of the year (stanford over usc) but it was the first. plus most casual fans haven't heard of app state, so it just made it seem a bigger upset than it was

Oh yes it was. Without a doubt.

An upset. Yes. Biggest of the year? Negative. Stanford almost beat USC a couple of years ago as I recall. USC is a paper tiger. I'm never surpised when they're beaten.

I was driving back from Grand Isle when I found the ASU-Michigan game on the radio (Sirius). I had a BLAST listening to that crazy game and could not wait to see the highlights. UNREAL and kudos to App State for pulling off one of the greatest upsets in college football history and for doing it in fine fashion.

As for ASU's losses, well, they're a I-AA team and the other teams in their conference and division have scholarship players, too. LSU lost 2 games last year, so what? We got the crystal and ASU won their title. Plus, I am pretty sure that the ASU QB was injured and did not play in at least one of their losses.

He actually missed a total of 4 games last year(and still put up remarkable numbers). Only played a few snaps in both losses.

App. St. may have shocked the world, but it wasn't just Michigan not taking them seriously they had some good players. They had more players drafted than Alabama, for example. (Any excuse to point that out.)
