With football season rapidly approaching AND wanting to mix things up for meals at the house, I thought I'd start a thread similar to our small town restaurant thread... but concentrating on Louisiana Specialty Meat stores.

Being a cajun country transplant now residing in the New Orleans area, I was interested to hear from locals as to where to stop for turduckens, boneless stuffed chickens, andoullie, brisket, boudin.... you know... the good stuff this state has to offer.

Anyway, what and where are some specialty meat places you have to stop and try?

Feel free to add on below (and list some of their key items):

Gourmet Butcher Block - Turducken

Abe's in Lake Charles has good stuffed ribeyes, stuffed chickens, and sausage.

There's a place in Scott with some great boudin but I'm drawing a blank on the name.

Agreed. They also make a killer spicy hog head cheese, garlic sausage and meat sticks.

Legnon's in New Iberia. Got some great boudin, excellent smoked sausage, and rockin' cracklins there a few weeks ago.

good stuff...

Though I initially set out to find places in the New Orleans area, I'm more than interested to find out about places across the state as well.

My family and I've been patron's of Joey's since he was in the old store on Bertrand Drive. Great wine selection and just a really nice place to have a lunch or pick up some good eats. Tell Joey we say hello..

Bourque's in Port Barre has awesome boudin and grillads.

Bdevill,
My grandmother, whom by the way still comes into the store 2-3 days a week, is the brain behind the place.
