theses might be who lsu fans think are their rivals, but do the other fans agree? to most lsu's rivals are ole miss and use to be a&m.

Used to be Ole Piss but they suck real bad so now I'd say it's Auburn.

+1

But I really do enjoy Ole Miss scraping the bottom these days...

To Texas fans, Arkansas is just a minor annoyance

How can they even consider Arky an annoyance when they don't play and aren't even in the same conference or stratusphere for that matter. I don't see how any one can consider Arky and Texas as any sort of a rival when THEY DON'T EVEN PLAY!

They try to keep it somewhat "alive" by playing every so often but this is more the older generation that feels this way and the younger generation just goes along for the ride because we have no true rival.

Arkansas has been a thorn in Texas' side in recent years... it's just something the older Arkansas fans hold onto.

I agree that it will eventually fade once Arkansas becomes more entrenched into the SEC and I think it's getting there.

For us old-schoolers, it has to be the Webels.
Today's crowd probably prefers that f-ing Bammer.

Maybe to you. LSU is an Elite team, Bama is a 6-6 team with an annual trip to Shreveport.

If the Arkansas games keep up the next decade, it wil be the other border state Arks, especially since it's out last game of the season.

The A&M rivalry is one that has subsided as many of you think the Ole Miss rivalry has. Like Tulane, when you don't play a team every year, you lose something. I know there is an Aggie in my office who can't see me without saying "Tiger Bait." He's an old guy, but he hates LSU.

Fans undecided on LSU's true rival, The Daily Reveille, 7/22/08

quote:

Several top-tier football programs around the country have rivals, other teams they and their fans despise.

Ohio State has Michigan. USC has UCLA. Texas has Oklahoma.

Even in the Southeastern Conference, Alabama and Auburn have "The Iron Bowl" every year, and Florida and Georgia annually host "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party."

But the target of LSU's enmity seems to be less clear.

One other thing to point out here, although we don't have one rival that stand out, every SEC team thats worth half a squat treats us as a bitter rival it seems. That's the feel of the game.
