Is anyone else as excited as me that Baton Rouge is getting a Bulldog bar? It's going in the old Dreamland on Perkins! Looking forward to Wed night pint nights!

I hope that location thrives for Bulldog, but should it not, I hope that it's owners will try another location in BR, before folding shop in BR.

The concept and genre is long overdue for a BR location, whether it be Bulldog, Gingerman, Flying Saucer,etc..

Like TA... I'll be the bookie and give some good odds that it will survive. BR has a bunch of drunkards and with over 50 beers on tap, they will show. BTW I'll be there frequently, since it's less than a mile from work and home.

Agreed. Especially for a college town.

Although- do you think the Chimes is similar to these places? A lot of variety of beer, casual atmosphere, etc...

Chimes has selection largely via bottle, not as much tap as Bulldog, Gingerman, Flying Saucer. I love Chimes, remember when it was a bar that had reggae night, then evolved into a tavern/restraunt. A BR legacy, but not really like the others. I wish BR had a brewpub, that would be a strong add.

I haven't frequented anything in Southdowns since my gym membership died years ago, Thai Kitchen trips, and before that some Peppy's and Uncle Earl's nights in the '80s.

The Bulldog will be the first thing in there in decades that really draws me.

ummm...how do I answer this nicely?...it blows every other beer bar in BR out of the water. And now I will finally have a great place to go in BR!

Edit: Asked about location but found it on their site. That place could be the death knell for Uncle Earls/Happy Note. Or, hopefully, it'll just keep the riff-raff at the Caterie where they belong.

Saw this posted last week but either way this is great news. One of my favorite New Orleans bars.

Is there going to be a patio like the one on Magazine? The beer-tap fountain makes me happy...
