ok, I know I'm planning too far in advance here, but who wants to consider getting in on this idea....
Thursday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 19
Thursday morning: fly to Charlotte, NC (or nearby, TBD)
Thursday afternoon: drive to Raleigh, NC
Thursday evening: attend Florida St. at NC State game (campus in Raleigh, perhaps tailgating too, definitely lots of LSU flags and colors showing, hopefully getting on TV - game on ESPN)
Friday: TBD but likely drive to Columbia, South Carolina (3 to 3.5 hour drive)
Saturday: tailgate and attend LSU at USC (i.e. watch Tigers whip Steve Spurrier's arse)
Sunday: TBD (fly home from Charlotte??)
as a "group" it will be loosely planned (unlikely we'll travel nor lodge together), but I would hope we could get most of the LSU fans in one area in the Wolfpack's stadium and tailgating on the NC State campus
Shoot me an e-mail (and/or bump this thread) if interested: JNPlauche@cs.com

I live in Raleigh and we have a local alumni group with a lot of folks who are also NC State fans. Several of us went to Columbia in 2003 and tailgated with the group from HATT. It was a blast. I thought the police in Columbia needed some pointers from the BR PD about getting traffic going after the game until I went to the Auburn game this year. Yikes the traffic was HORRIBLE! I'll forward this to our President. Thanks for the preliminary itineary!

A couple of my friends and I were planning to fly to Charlotte on Wednesday and drive up into Raleigh/Chapel Hill area for a few days before heading to Columbia for the game. Didn't realize they would be playing a game that Thursday at NC State.

Here's my plan:
Thursday morning: Fly to Charleston
Thursday afternoon: Golf at Kiawah
Friday: Golf at Kiawah
Saturday: Drive up to Columbia, watch LSU dismember the 'Cocks, drive back to Kiawah
Sunday: Golf at Kiawah. Maybe go back to NY. Maybe.

Sounds like a great idea. Birmingham has direct flights to RDI from xjet.

quote:sure thing, it would be great if a "local" could plan a tailgate in Raleigh on Thursday afternoon, as my ability to fly-in with tailgating gear is limited (I do it, but its pretty meager)
