I am surprised no body mentioned the Glen Oaks area.

I taught middle school under Mr. Williams (Doug Williams older brother)...

I will say by far, there is some major issues in the neighborhood...I would not venture off the main road to the school (streets named after cars).

It is sad, alot of areas in Baton Rouge is not safe...Baton Rouge is a rough town...in fact, it seems the whole state is pretty rough.

116 homicides is outrageous.
You guys actually think Baton Rouge is safe?

I know Lexington is not the same size and demographics of Baton Rouge, but I feel safe in the town.

Don't get me wrong, we have issues (hispanics bringing some gang activity, but our law enforcement is pretty aggressive in preventing crime.

No, I don't take safety for granted...

There's plenty of violent crime right here in the small city of New Iberia....

Clean,

Sad that the local and state leaders do not take the lead in educate and giving opprotunities for their citizens.

Glen Oaks Middle School, my classroom had broken windows, leaking ceilings, terrible surroundings, lack of text books, etc.

Must put into the state public school system.

Baton Rouge is more less metamorphosing into everything we used to hate about certain parts of New Orleans. It's a little bit ironic considering the disdain most BR yahoos hold for NO.

Ding Ding Ding..Spot-On!!

Crime, hodge-podgery of pockets of 'hoods in all corridors, pitiful lack of modern-day commercial building restrictions, no sprawl limits, flight to surrounding cities and 'burbs leaving an populace of inner-city BR which votes against any infrastructure, servitude, and/or millage increase to improve things, fast-assembly Section-8 apartments slapped up liberally in thriving corridors which bring immediate and future issues to once formerly unfazed corridors. Abandoned corridors aplenty with no viable gameplans for their survival and/or rehabilitation,etc..blight, blight, blight!

Whoa, I was in the National Guard there for years, and the friends I made, and folks met in that city, are golden, with admittedly a few alkies and loonies..New Iberia is pound-for-pound..one of Louisiana's greatest.
