I have read and heard on TV that Terry wanted/was thinking of playing in Baton Rouge but he could not pass the entrance exam....

OK, I am under the impression that LSU back then (before 1984) was open admission...I thought that means if you graduate from High School you can attend (like a community college, which this deal is amazing to someone my age)...

I read about the open admission policy in an alumni newsletter about a year ago...So why did Terry have to take a admission test in the first place....Did the NCAA require it anyways...?

what difference would that make? he could pass and still go to tech.

also, I enrolled in 85 and didn't have to take an entrance exam.....at least I don't remember taking one

There wasn't a required ACT score to get into LSU at that time. It's a BS statement by Terry.

Bradshaw’s senior year in high school was the first year that the SEC had a standard test that was given for eligibility to receive an athletic scholarship. It had a low minimum passing grade. The test was to be given only one time.

Bradshaw was recruited for a track scholarship. Bradshaw had set the national HS javelin record his senior year.

We had a great senior thrower in Delmon (sp?) McNabb who had set the national record his HS senior year. The previous record had been approx. 212 ft. Delmon reset it at 225 ft. Bradshaw had shattered it at 245 ft.!

Coach May (track coach) gave Bradshaw the test FIVE times and he failed to pass it. Therefore, he accepted a football scholarship to Tech because he could not get an SEC scholarship.

Now here is the kicker! The SEC had a rule that if you had a Spring scholarship (i.e. track) then you could not compete in a fall sport. Had Bradshaw passed the test and gone to LSU to compete in the javelin, he would have been working on someone else’s horse farm and never sniffed the NFL.

PS: I remember Delmon winning the NCAA, but he also pitched on the baseball team for one year. He had a fast ball that made the batter’s knees turn to jelly. Imagine what he could do with a baseball when he could throw the javelin over 260 ft.

PPS: There was no minimum SAT or ACT score, a Louisiana high school diploma got you in and a whole lot of remedial classes were available. LSU lost a lot of the freshman class each year. UNO (LSUNO) lost 75% of its freshman class.

And anyone who thinks Terry is really dumb, IS really dumb. he did not want to go to LSU.

And bert jones (i think) was opposite Joe Ferguson, not TB.

Sorry Jeffsdad, but pull your head out of your arse before you speak – it muffles your words. And I realize that facts confuse you.

I was on the track team at that time and Bradshaw taking the test five times was common knowledge. We wanted Bradshaw and Bradshaw wanted LSU.

PS: Spell check is really quick and easy – just put the arrow on the little thing that reads “ABC” and has the check symbol, and click it.

Bradshaw won 5 superbowls and beat the best teams during his era, and you are calling him a moron.

I dont' think there are words to describe your stupidity!
