Check Coach Bill McCartney's comments below

Losing to Arkansas likely made Miles a more immediate candidate in Michigan's eyes because it removed the impediment of his coaching in the BCS title game.

Michigan athletic director Bill Martin said he wants to respect coaches' seasons, but schools have poached coaches from lesser bowl games before (see: LSU-Saban, pre-Citrus 1999), and Miles may even be more receptive without the BCS pressure.

Will he come if offered? Not everyone's sold on that idea.

"I've never been anywhere where a football game is more exciting and important as it is at LSU," McCartney said. "When people say it's a foregone conclusion that somebody would go to Michigan if they could, in my mind, it's not. Michigan is a great place, but LSU a great place, too. Because of the way he deports himself and the success in his three years, people really grown fond of him. I'm sure this is not an easy decision."
The last word comes from Miles, and a statement he made in the New Orleans Times-Picayune days after accepting the LSU job says a lot.

"I hope this is my very last move," he told the newspaper. "A 12-, 15-year stay, national championships, SEC championships. I don't want to move again. That's not me. I have to be honest. I could have stayed at the last one until the end of my career. They set the contract up for that. But this is the first one where we could stay, if we get it going and have success and sustain it over time, it has everything."

For a Michigan man -- almost everything.
