Bobby Drake has hooked up a good bit in the comics, so to write him as always being gay (and deeply closeted) is insulting to the character.
How is it insulting?
The captain on my high school football team hooked up a good bit and was always all over chicks.
Then his senior year in college he came out as gay.
It's not like it's an unrealistic plot change.

Well, as I said in the post, in the Marvel Universe Iceman is a superhero-he is brave by definition. being a mutant is the crime against nature in the 616. If he was feared of not being accepted, he wouldn't be an X-Man.
This time traveling stunt isn't like Northstar coming out 25 years ago, it implies that Bobby, even after witnessing several heroes come out and again despite being a very powerful hero has somehow been too afraid of what his already persecuted friends think of him. Not to mention that the other telepaths, such as Emma Frost, haven't noticed this with the adult version of this character.
It would be more respectful if Marvel actually created new heroes-some gay, some black, some latinos, etc. instead changing the history of characters that exist.
That being said, the comics industry in general hasn't created enough new heroes in the last 30 years.
