The answer to this is the Southshore. You won't find any* area of the Northshore where it costs as much per square foot as it does for several of the areas in Orleans Parish.

Now this is a much more difficult question to answer. Everything in Orleans Parish is more expensive than anywhere else in the state. If you are not worried about getting the most bang for your buck then I would say Southshore is for you. However, if you are raising a family and looking to stretch your money a little further I would definitely consider the Northshore.

Again, everything about Orleans Parish is more expensive so it really depends on how much money you have, where you work, and do you have kids.

I see very little Orleans Parish Schools in the Top 25. Now if you are looking at Public Schools with selective admissions like Ben Franklin, Lusher, and Lake Forest then you are correct but I would assume the chances of getting in are not very high.

Good point. In that case the private schools on the Southshore definitely put the private schools on the Northshore to shame (and this is coming from a private school grad on the Northshore).

I put the star because there is one or two places like on the river in Madisonville or on the Lakefront in Mandeville. The nice neighborhoods like TCC and Southdown don't come close, just compare the cost of a lot.
