I would normally say that the cap will ease up next year because the team will do something with Brees' $27.4M cap hit...but who knows what will ultimately happen with that.
You do know we are currently about 20 mil under the projected cap next even with Drew getting 27.4 right?

I don't think the team would give away a 3rd for a one year rental LB. A 5th might even be a push.
With a contract Kendricks for a 3rd would be a solid move IMO.
What a promotion that would be if we could get his bruddah too. I'm getting kinda excited about a real LB overhaul.
Can ya imagine a #13 edge rusher and Kendricks at 31? Wow
rotoworld takes on Mychal-
CSN Philly's Andrew Kulp would be "mildly surprised" if Eagles ILB Mychal Kendricks is not traded "before or during the draft."
Kulp is just connecting dots, but he draws a very interesting picture. Even though Kendricks is entering the last year of his rookie deal, the Eagles have yet to approach him about an extension. They did extend DeMeco Ryans and traded for Kiko Alonso. Chip Kelly seems to be on a mission to rid his roster of players acquired by ex-GM Howie Roseman. Kendricks is a budding star, but Kelly has proven willing to part ways with star players at the drop of a hat.

Yes, I'm aware that the cap is projected to be $150M next year and that we're committed to $130M. I'm also aware that $130M represents the money for 35 players. That means $20M has to be divided up among 18 additional players for the active roster as well as all the other needs.
That''s not a lot of money.

If we're going to spend a 1st or 2nd rounder on an ilb, why not trade the pick instead for a proven ilb?
This. A proven player trumpts a prospect. I'm not informed enough to know how it would affect next year's cap, whether positive or negative, but Loomis and co. got a good deal with Ingram, so I'd be optimistic that they could get a good deal for him after the contract ends, assuming he has a good year. Sure, he could bolt after the year, but if he gets a fair offer from us after being on a winning team, that plays to the favor of being able to retain him.

I like the idea of the trade being conditional on the saints and kendricks being able to work out an extended contract.
However, the down side to that idea is having to pre-determine the # of years and $ with a proven player, but unproven in our particular system- which is no different than a regular free agent signing.
I wouldn't want the trade if we only get him for a year
