would argue the offs of getting an offensive board on a free throw are way lower than any shot from the field
Someone took a look at the math behind putting DeAndre on the line...they found that for whatever reason the Clippers grab way more offensive boards on his FT misses than normal.

As of last year, the Clippers actually rebounded 22% of Jordan's missed free throws, more than double the league average offensive rebounding rate off free throws. LINK
As per the strategy itself, I find it hard to argue with Pops, but I don't think this helps them much at all. I feel like people think it works just because it's the best coach in the game doing it and they occasionally win doing it so people assume it's a great strategy. But it's the freaking Spurs, they're really good and would have likely won a bunch of these games anyway. I don’t wanna hear any rhythm or momentum arguments either because the same applies to the team doing the fouling and if they're down they need rhythm and momentum to get back in the gane.

Not a very hard thing to see why. Typically poor shooters, will shoot poor shots. So you are going to see a lot of misses that are not that close, making it easier for offensive rebounders to get by the block outs and get boards.

It has it's pros/cons. One thing no one else considers is that it gives LA a free chance to rest CP3 and BG because they don't need their offense at times when they aren't running offense.
Great point. It really does give everyone a breather. I feel like you could come up with tons of cons and tons of pros. It just isn't some obvious cheat code like people make it out to be. I wish some one would do a study that really crunched the numbers, so that we could see the use of it naturally decline.

Well, Hack a Jordan worked well for them last night.
Actually a bunch of teams have done this and only one made it work. I think it was Portland. Refs hate it also. Makes the game look stupid.

It has already been done and teams certainly have access to it. The small sample size game-to-game means it simply isn't going to go away unless there is a rule change.
