My 11 year old loves these movies. That's how it makes so much money

Humor is very subjective. Enough people enjoyed this type of humor to garner this much money. It will probably drop substantially in week two,

Not surprising the first one made a lot of money with a pretty small budget.

Damn so they'll make another one.

probably not. it had a budget of 30 million, plus probably 5-10million in advertising.

theyll probably break around even then make small change on rentals.

that is extremely different than the first which had a budget of 26 million and grossed over 140 million, 30 of it came opening weekend.

this should all come as good news.

God forbid they make a non-animated family comedy movie that kids like as well as their parents.

Kevin James is a really great human being. I have no problem with him being successful.

I'm sorry why didn't you highlight GOT? Do you think dragons, dwarfs, and sex is a more complex show? Appealing to those who aren't a part of the LDC?

What about International money? I'm pretty sure it'll do more than 10 million through the rest of it's theatre run and then there is licensing rights to the networks and cable (plus PPV/On Demand and movie sales). It'll probably finish somewhere around 100M or so..

Was that list of tv shows just cable ones? I'm sure some network shows have to be in the top 25. Those CSI type shows have crazy ratings.. I thought..

They don't make a lot of family friendly movies anymore so when one comes out and a family wants to go together, it generates a lot of cash. Which is why they keep making sequels.

Have you been to a wal Mart lately in the south?

Plenty of people willing to pay for that shite. Imagine all the Mickey Mouse t shirts

More complex than the typical reality television? Obviously. Because you can watch or read it without gagging on your own vomit (unlike scripted reality television)

Imagine having to read a script from most of those shows. Even if the fantasy stuff annoys you at least there's something there that arouses interest in the reader/viewer. And yes, it is mostly still mindless entertainment but there are different levels of quality when it comes to mindless entertainment.

To the other person worried about robot chicken? Never watched it so I don't have an opinion.

I can't believe I was dumb enough to think that they wouldn't recoup their budget in domestic sales. Never underestimate the average American.

Don't feel too bad. Even Sony was expecting it to only make in the mid teens this past weekend.
