Why is Sunday the first day of the week?

Seems like it should be the last day of the week.
I know the answer probably goes back to the bible or some shite but making Sunday the first day of the week was clearly a mistake.

Because the Sabbath is Saturday, therefore the next day is the first day of the week. FWIW, I always think of Sunday as the end of the week, and for all practical purposes the rest of the English speaking world does, too.
