I've had Fed Ex lose packages too. They fell off the damn truck. Shipping is a crapshoot no matter who you use.

I've had all three carriers make multiple mistakes.

In my experience UPS is the slowest and most expensive even when they get it right. USPS is the fastest and cheapest but also the most likely to lose a package. Fedex performs in the middle on speed, price, and reliability.

I've bought a couple of golf shafts and putter over the past month and last week was the first time one actually got to me on expected delivery day. Two weeks in a row the tracking info said they were out for delivery to Gonzales and ended up in some small town north of lake Charles.

I recently moved and about a third of my mail is actually making it to my new place. The rest is returned to sender.

But let's put the government in charge of health care! They'll totally get that right!

I mail a check to my lawn service in St Martinville every month, I can see their PO box from the counter but the clerk told me it actually goes to Baton Rouge before it comes right back to his PO box

The USPS isn't exactly the government. More like a government protected monopoly.

My lawn service has Google Wallet. I just send payment to their wallet at the end of each month.

But to your point, yes, that is incredibly inefficient, lazy and indicative of everything wrong with USPS. They should just sell it to UPS or FedEx and let them streamline it and make the business decisions necessary to turn a profit and provide better service.

I forget what it's called exactly but some sites I order from do this UPS/Fedex and postal service mixture where they ship the item to a local address then mail it the rest of the way.

Tracking information be like:
Jan 1 8:00AM - Package left warehouse in Oregon
Jan 1 11:00AM - Package arrived at distribution center in New Orleans
Jan 1 11:30AM - Package dropped off at post office
Jan 6 4:00PM - Packaged scanned into USPS system
Jan 19 12:PM - Package delivered to Baton Rouge
February 27 4:00PM - Package out for delivery

Almost forgot the part where I get home and find a note on my door saying I missed the delivery and can pick the package up at the post office.

I mailed a package from Houston to Colorado. USPS delivered it all the way to Anchorage Alaska before it made its way to CO. Took about 3 weeks.
