The Tigers have commonly been called Bayou Bengals for 40-50 years. What, are you from outta state? Been serving a life sentence in Leavenworth? Comeon.

October 21st 1936 LSU got the first Bengal Tiger mascot which was the beginning of the Bengal Tigers. That's 78 1/2 years ago. Bayou Bengals came a little later.

Better than being just another generic tiger mascot/name. Sets us apart.

It has been that way forever. Named after all the Bengal Tigers that roam the banks of Bayou Lafourche.

LSUinMA...you should really consider what you're joking about before you say things like kill yourself.

Yeah, I've been a fan since the 60's and it has been around that long. I like it myself. Kind of differentiates us from Auburn. Auburn is also called the War Eagles and The Plainsman. Wish they would choose one of those and quit being Tigers but it won't happen.

Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of it. I like it and all, don't get me wrong, but it always felt a little lowbrow - almost as if we're being pulled down to the same level as the "Ragin Cajuns" and who wants that?

But I understand the confusion. Within the LSU community it just isn't something we say too often and you mostly only hear it said by our opposition.
