Most of the qbs that beat LSU did it from outside of the pocket.

That's nice.

Back to the topic at hand, Harris needs to get better at making plays from the pocket. It's where he is behind. It's not physical. It's a development issue. That is the only thing that Jennings was doing better than Harris.

Harris 100% should start from what I've seen. Not that the spring game means much.

I think the busted coverages kept me from what I wanted to see. I wanted to see the QBs move the chains with short and intermediate passing. I am still not enamored with the play calling. However, we did see a lot of passing out of the spread and not much drop back passing. I just wish everything wasn't a deep pass.

Weren't his TDs with white from the pocket?

I think he was protecting our players by not calling the over-the-middle stuff. I do hope to see our short-intermediate passing game go bananas with Tyron and Trey! Can't wait to see Guice catch passes out the backfield as well!

Harris had a first down pass to Diarse across the middle. McMillan had a TD to Smith on a post. Not terribly bad across the middle today.

Jennings is still Jennings. Still no underneath game, and basically throws up hail Mary's that our great receivers can flag down. Not much different than last year.

I'm not saying he can't make plays from the pocket. I'm saying that too often is slow to anticipate the open WR and thus ends up having to tuck the ball and run, or worse ends up taking the sack. This is a problem. Negative plays will hurt him more than the other plays he's making on his own.

I'm not bashing him. I think he's definitely better than last year. He needs to continue to develop. He has a ways to go. When you wonder what Jennings has that Harris doesn't it's the ability to execute a high percentage of plays without a breakdown that causes a negative play.

If the end result is a loss it is a negative. Are you telling us that Jennings plays because of no lost yardage even if it means not garnering points? Welcome aboard the Miles train.

I surely hope all the players continue to get better and whomever starts does well.

I'm pointing out where Harris needs to improve. I'm not suggesting Jennings should start. In fact, I think Harris should.

But, I'm also aware that Harris needs improvement because the offense will have problems if he doesn't learn to execute the offense better.

Harris has the "IT" factor. Maybe he doesn't make every play, but he shows the capability to make incredible plays, and one day be a special QB.

Yep. Jennings is Jennings (I've only watched the first half, so far). Harris will be harder to defend and he needs to start for that reason.

Jennings is improving. By the 2019 season he should be good to go.

Look fwd to watching the game on SEC N, but from the clips I have seen you have to like Harris. Strong arm, accurate, and he is a THREAT with his feet.

Jennings hits Dural on the 70 yd play, with NO CB within 20 yds of him, and he has to wait on the ball. I also saw Jennings throw the 'fade' to Dural. Did not see anything else (anything new), but hope to see something when I watch the game.

Harris is throwing the ball, with touch, in tight spots. Nice passes, nice zip. We need someone who can complete that 10 yd crossing rt, 15 yd out, back shoulder pass to the sideline.

I saw nothing in the highlight film that leads me to believe Jennings can do these things, while I believe Harris can. We'll see what the entire film looks like, but I would give Harris the majority of #1 reps b/c he gives us the best chance to win with a dynamic O, that can compete for 4 qtrs. regardless of the score and opponent.

So it's safe to say McMillan should get the start

Busted plays are making our QBs look good right now

Harris made some good tough accurate throws deep. Harris had more than one throw where he put the ball only where the receiver could only get it in coverage. Jennings capitalized on two busted plays I think. Both looked like they knew the offense and how people were supposed to be lined up. Saw Harris correct a receiver about lining up at the beginning. Jennings looked improved some as well, but but missed somed open opportunities.

Harris made a nice fade pass in a tight spot in the corner of the EZ to Quinn, who was covered well. This was on the last purple drive. Quinn should have held on to it.

Not many solid conclusions to draw. Jennings, to me, looked more "comfortable," but I got there late and only saw Harris play with the purple team.

I'm not one to get euphoric from a glorified practice session. I honestly didn't see much to say definitely that one or both "improved."

We won't know for sure until they take snaps for real in an SEC game.

I was glad to see both of the QBs improved. Yes, they both looked better against the 2nd team but Harris was perfect against the Purple. Hey, that Freshman QB has some stuff, too. I would like to see us in the position that Ohio State was in last year when one Qb falls, we just carry on with the next.... Kinda like rows of ps hark teeth.

I know it is just spring and the D wasn't showing any kind of confusing packages but they showed so much more promise. Gives me what I need for the next 139 days. HOPE!

The one thing I saw that separated them, in my book, was Harris' ability to extend the play. He seems to be better with his legs. Hoping both those boys continue to compete. It makes the team better.

There is no question IMO that Harris is the better QB. I have no idea what Miles and Cam will decide to do in the fall, but Harris no doubt will shine one of these days, hopefully sooner rather than later.
