How does MLB get away with blacking out a channel I pay for each month? They're about to show a game I'd like to watch. Am I the only one being blacked out? This is dumb.

Because your local affiliate(tv) has 1st rights to game.

It was like that for Thursdays Cardinals game, blacked out on MLB, but Fox sports midwest had it.

Is it showing on any of your cable channels? That's usually.

I get MLB TV also, if the game is shown on a local channel (or is an ESPN national game) then it is blacked out on MLB TV as those channel's have 1st rights.

I like to watch Red Sox games on the NESN feed but if they play either on ESPN or against The Rangers/Astros I have to watch it on that channel.

Really not dumb, just MLB protecting their business/media partners.
