I have some questions:

Like a bottle of wine, I couldn't tell you the difference between a $5 pair and a $15 pair.

1. But getting into the $30 -$50 range, is there a difference in manufacturing of the lens ?

2. Then going to the $100 to $200 range....is it name only that makes one buy a pair of shades? Or are the Lenses going to give you a better look into the water?

I am asking about the lens only....not comfort/fit/material of frames.

I have 580G costas and they are 10x better than my friends $50 pair of polarized glasses.

I've had glass Costas and plastic Bass Pro. I can't tell the difference.

Had to go without my 400 Costas for about a month while they were being repaired....wore some $20 Strike King ones for the meantime. When I got the Costas back on my face.... It was heaven

If I didn't need prescription, no way I'd ever pay over $50 for them. People lie to themselves over glasses worse than they do over coolers.

The difference in price is the overall quality from frames and hinges to the lenses. I can't tell you how much better the actual lenses are, but a pair of Costas or Mauis will last wayyyy longer than a pair of StrikeKing $40 shades.

If you put on Mauis/Costas/high quality glasses, look into the water, then immediately take them off and put on a pair of cheap polarized lenses, I guarantee you'll be able to tell the difference.

I used to think just like some of you guys, then I went without my Costas for a couple of months. Never again.

eta: whether it's worth the money is subjective. Depends what type of fishing you do/how often you fish/etc.

The more expensive they are the more fish you catch.

I paid $70 for my Natives on sale (regularly over $120) and it changed my mind about quality. I had them 4 years and they were like brand new when I lost them a few weeks ago. I bought some $20 shades to see if there was a difference and they are awful. I'm trying to find the same style of Native shades I had before.

Sorry about the blindness.

If you are half way responsible you should buy a good pair of sunglasses because they really are that much better. If you tend to lose/break stuff you are better off with a $10 pair of glasses.
Definitely go with the glass though because it is far superior in scratch resistance.

I have a pair of Costa 580 that I still wear that are at least 12 years old.

I personally believe there is a major difference I clarity and polarization between cheap and quality glasses.

prescription

I have ray bans, I've recycled the frames 3 times,, but anybody know some "cheaper" places to get prescription glasses? These $400 prescription glasses are a pain in the butt!!

The glass on the 580g costas are by far the best I've used, but the frames are hot garbage. I've tried on a bunch and can't find any that I like, and the metal hinge sucks.

I use oakleys 95% of the time and costas are in my trucks sunglasses holder as backup.

Agreed. Maybe I just have a big head, but the Costa frame stretch is beyond aggravating. The good thing is they'll replace it for $11.
