C.J. Spiller: Mentality in New Orleans is 'Super Bowl'

Nothing special but something a little different than all the mock draft talk for a change.

"The mentality there is 'Super Bowl,'" Spiller said. "You want to win the division and then the conference. But they want to win Super Bowls, and so do I. "At the end of the day, the window is closing in on everybody. I'm just looking forward to being a part of that, a piece of that puzzle."
quote:
"I'm excited to get down to New Orleans," Spiller said. "Coach Payton knows how to get the ball to the running backs. At the same time, (quarterback) Drew (Brees) isn't going to force anything downfield, so he loves getting the backs involved in the passing game."
quote:
We anticipate the Saints churning out a pounding, ground-control attack that turns often to Spiller through the air. After all, the departed Pierre Thomas averaged 52.8 catches per season over the past four years under Payton, while Darren Sproles hauled in 77.3 catches per campaign during his three seasons in The Big Easy. A healthy Spiller offers more explosiveness and quick-cutting ability than either of those backs, setting the table for defenses to experience their share of headaches and open-space trauma in 2015.

I saw that article and it got me stoked. It sounds like everyone is buying in

Speaking of Pierre, kinda surprised that he hasn't landed anywhere yet.

Still holding out hope we bring him back/cheap for one last run.

Thank you. All this mock draft talk is stupid.
See Stanley Jean-Baptiste.

I'm excited he's here but I remember Champ Bailey saying the same thing about our Super Bowl mentality last year. Won't be drinking the kool-aid until we start playing some games.

I listened to those retards at WWL 870AM (Deke Bellavia, mainly) talk about how the Saints would be a Super Bowl contender, wouldn't finish any lower than an NFC Championship berth, even a 14-2 record was thrown around, when they were reporting from Saints camp in West Virginia last summer. I even woke up early and listened to the Black and Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014. What happened? We finished with a dismal 7-9 record. Never again will I buy into pre-season hype.
I'm glad CJ Spiller feels good and sets high goals, but let's see how many yards we rush for on Sept 13 against Detroit.

30 teams in the NFL should have the mentality to win a Super Bowl this year.

Has Les Miles ever met Sean Payton?

His value is familiarity at this point, no one else has that. He stuck on with the Saints at a good price for his returns, he's not gonna get that anywhere else.

Yep. Making the playoffs would be like their Super Bowl. Much like the Pelicans.

I think Spiller has the potential to be a more consistent threat than either Bush or Sproles. He can actually run the football through the tackles and is obviously fantastic in space. We won't be nearly as obvious with playcalling when he's in the game
