Would You Use A Doctor Who Graduated From A Med School in Caribbean?

I'm on the search for a new primary care doctor in Dallas for regular checkups, annuals etc.
I've been looking at the MD review sites and see some with good reviews but when I click on their bio, a good many of them have graduated from med schools in Caribbean. I'm hesitant to choose a doctor who couldn't get into a US med school. I don't care if they have degrees from Johns Hopkins or Harvard, but Ross University, St George etc has me a little wary of these doctors abilities. Am I wrong in these assumptions?

Is this like the lawyer in Community that got a law degree in Columbia?

No.
When I was looking for a primary, that was one of my main considerations.
Also, I wanted a med school I've at least heard of.

Did he get a residency in the United States? Is the word on him good?
If yes and yes, I'm good.

Find out where they did their residency.
If they got their degree from one of those Caribbean schools but did their residency at say...Duke University Hospital, then I'd think that you'd be fine.

Find out where he or she did residency. Besides, if you're just doing this for annual checkups and such then it probably doesn't matter.
Also, everyone knows the best medical advice can be found on this board.

Yea he is.
I'd let him be my doctor, but only cuz I know him. Other Caribbean ppl I wouldn't be comfortable with.

I probably wouldn't even waste my time researching the background of doctor to be used on this level.

They'll probably give you better drugs. They were taught by Rastafarians.

residency and board certified are what really matters

Tons of extremely qualified potential doctors have to study in the caribbean because they are white males. Now if your potential doctor is a black female that studied at "Juan's Totally Legit Doctor Skool", I'd probably reconsider.

If he's passed American Boards, it's really not a big deal.
Trust me, I know a ton of crappy American physicians with credentials out the arse.
Just set up a consult with him and use it as an interview. It's your dime, he'll talk to you in general terms if you tell him you're looking for a new PCP.
Assuming he's board certified, your "relationship" with him AND HIS OFFICE are more important than his credentials.

we've beaten this up a few times before but general consensus is where they did residency has more bearing than where they went to school, when I was of the age where friends were going to med school, it seemed that getting in was as much a political/nepotistsic thing as grades/scores/merit
