In their letter addressed to Lee Goldman, the dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine at Columbia, the physicians said they were “surprised and dismayed” at Oz’s appointment and that he has “misled and endangered” the public with his pathology.

Oz is the Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Oz, who hosts the popular The Dr. Oz Show on daytime TV, had to defend his claims of “miracle” weight-loss supplements he promoted to his viewers during a June 2014 U.S. Senate hearing. Members of Congress criticized his claims as medically unsound, saying, “The scientific community is almost monolithically against you.” A senator even accused him of deliberately lying.

There was a great New Yorker profile of him a few years ago. Basically, he was a highly regarded heart surgeon and he threw that all away to be famous on TV. Made him look like a horribly greedy SOB -- if you're a hot shite heart surgeon in New York, you're making damn good money. Why you need to pimp diet pills that don't work for shite?

I don't mind Dr. Oz. he actually takes a natural approach for most cures. I believe more than most doctors of today are only programmed to force prescription meds.. Most of these doctors with all their complex schooling don't know near enough about nutrition. Of course they don't agree with him.

FIFY

But, while true, this kind of reeks of jealousy. Duping the public is pretty scummy, but it takes two to tango.

Dr. Oz has a heart of gold, is well intentioned. But, I do slightly respect more so his buddy Dr. Michael Roizen, who I saw speak in Sun Valley years ago.

Dr Roizen generally doesn't care for the tv limelight, and prefers to work at Cleveland Clinic, do his books and lectures.

A bit less stressful than heart surgery.
