Sperm Whale at 2000 Feet Depth off Louisiana

I searched before posting.

Sperm whale recorded at depth of 2000 feet off the Louisiana coast. I didn't know sperm whales were in the Gulf of Mexico.

Yep, they are out there out in the deep water off the Mississippi.

The Sperm whale gets its name from the spermaceti organ which fills most of its huge head. In the 18th and 19th centuries, New England whalers sought out the Sperm whale for the valuable spermaceti oil, which makes an exceptionally fine lubricant. Sperm Whale Name

Don't know? Ive never seen one fishing out there, but I have seen some "pygmy" sperm whales and Pilot whales.

Thought they got a giant squid on an ROV camera while working on Shell's Perdido asset. Could be wrong though.
