Trying to understand our ineptness versus Arkansas in football

This one bothers me so much I needed to post. At some point LES and the team needs to play against Arkansas and stop taking the game off. We've played these guys 22 times since joining the conference and I bet we were favored at least 19-20 times. If this game was played early in the conference schedule we'd have won almost every game. Every year Nutt was playing for his job,i.e. bowl game and we come out and stink. For us to get back where we belong there can be no more losses to Arkansas, Ole Miss or Miss State. Les is now losing to all three.

End of the season. They get up for us like we get up for Bama. One-dimensional offense. Pretty much sums it up.

We beat their best team in 30 yrs this year. We also beat State for what?, 14 yrs in row.

Yea I don't understand OP's beef. If you want to complain, it should be that we haven't beaten Bama since the GOTC.

If we lose to Bama, the season is pretty much done and we tank vs Arky... has happened the last 2 times we lost to them.

Arkansas and ole miss HATE LSU. both teams get up for that game like no other. it really is that simple. both play over their heads against us and we just are not that psyched up to play them.

Arkansas hates LSU. I'm from Arkansas and I can't explain how important the boot is to their fanbase. (e.g they brought the trophy and called the hogs during the LSU/Ark basketball game). While it means little to LSU, the same can't be said in regards to Arkansas
They will always play us tough. Thankfully, Les wins most of the time. It was a disaster waiting to happen - they came into the game off a bye weekend while we came from a disappointing OT loss to Alabama.
Despite their record they had a good team this year. Nearly beat A&M, Mississippi State, & Alabama,

Since around 2007, I don't think we've been much better of a team than Arky (exception: 2011). It may not be reflected in the overall won-loss records, but I think we're closer to Arky than Alabama in terms of talent and coaching. Sucks, but it's true.

WTF? Arky had three losing seasons during that timeframe! They have been through 3 head corches during that time. They lost to THE UL......M.

beliema has been doing a good job of really beefing up the interior lines on both sides of the ball, making teams one dimensional. You've got to beat them through the air or at least make them espect the pass. Unfortunately for LSU, we play them in the cold (usually) which is already bad for passing and this past year we played jennings all game (which is double bad for passing). We had no chance

People tend to underestimate the 2014 Arkansas defense. It was stout:
Total Defense: 2nd in the SEC.
Held Bama to 66 yards rushing.
Held Ole Miss to 63 yards rushing.
Held Texas to 2 yards rushing. Yes, 2 yards.
Total Defense: 2nd in the SEC.

I know how crazy it sounds, but I just don't think we're a great deal better than Arky. Like last year we were 8-5, they were 7-6. Not much difference there.

this might be a bit of a stretch.
We def have better overall talent. We just don't play up to that level all the time.
