Roku buffering issue: hard wired to router

I've got a roku in my shed that I decided to hard wire to my router because it's almost out of range. I've been having issues with it buffering while watching watchespn.
My internet is att DSL. Ethernet cable is 125' long.
I have another roku in my house Over wifi and Ive never had an issue.
I can't figure out why id have buffering issues while being hard wired.
Any clue?

Are you running shielded cable? It's possible that there may be some interference somewhere.

I think it's sheilded cable. Will find the box. Made sure to keep space between electrical cables and the Ethernet as well.

may be your DSL. have you had any issues before streaming? not sure what plan you have but its not very fast. if anyone else is streaming stuff that may be causing the issues

No one asked you about the speed of your internet yet...

It's 6mbps. It's all I need. And again, my roku that's connected via wifi never has issues streaming hd programming. For some reason the one that's hard wired does.
Fwiw, my other option is charter that goes out once a month for $20 more/month than att.

If you live at Lowes, Yes.

Can you hook a laptop to the cable and run a few speedtest? Thats the easiest way to see if you are getting proper bandwidth to the Roku.

You'll want to check the quality of the ethernet wiring, not the internet speed. In Windows 7, click on the ethernet icon in the system tray to open the Network and Sharing Center. Select Change Adapter Settings, right click on your connection and find Status. This will tell you the speed of your ethernet connection. It should be the same as your router or switch maximum, i.e., 100 Mbps or 1 Gb.
If the speed is degraded, you have a cabling problem. Check the rating printed on the cable to be sure it is Cat5e or Cat6. You didn't mention whether this was a 125' long patch cable or hard-wired to junction boxes, but assuming hard-wired, check your patch cables too to be sure they are properly rated. Substitute patch cables at both ends to be sure they are not the problem.

The ethernet spec is 100 meters (328 feet) max cable length so he's well within limits.

think I figured it out... ran the speed tests (see below) and the hard wired was pretty much equal to the wifi inside my house at the other roku. wifi in the shed was crap. then I thought "what if it's still connecting to wifi?" so I went into settings and couldn't figure out how to disable wifi on the roku. I just put in a bad password to make it impossible to connect. went back and connected via Ethernet and so far so good. lsu game popped up quick and has been in hd the whole time with no buffering. fingers crossed...
