They owned the rights to Eli and flipped him because he refused to sign there.

He was a Charger until the Rivers deal was completed.

Yeah. I know what happened. But he didn't play a single snap there. And a lot of people think that was a good deal. Eli fluked into two Super Bowls. Rivers is a better QB.

1) counting Eli is ridiculous

2) you're getting way ahead of yourself here. It's still wayy more likely he stays in SD than anything else

The dysfunctional SD front office doomed the team, hence the laughing.

Rivers is good but firing Marty closed their window.

Your reasoning is all over the place right now. They fired Monty later. I really don't think there front office has been that bad. They've arguably been a better team since Rivers than the Giants with Eli if you take away those two ridiculously flukey Super Bowl runs.

Lots of people were saying for years that Eli should have stayed in San Diego because it would have been a way better situatin. Then he suddenly won two Super Bowls out of nowhere.

If you can't tell, Eli winning two Super Bowls is pretty much my least favorite thing in sports.

Well since you can't take away Superbowl wins...

HOF is a joke if Eli gets in.

Yeah but at least he wasn't just along for the ride in those. He played great.

I don't disagree. But he's not a HOF quarterback.

Fascinating to see guys like Cutler and now Rivers potentially traded. If Rivers hits the market, he'll get the biggest contract ever in per year average, unless he takes a lower amount to go to a real contender (replacing Brady, Manning or perhaps Dalton).

I think after whatever happens with rivers, QB pay may start to plateau, guys like Cutler won't be able to hit $18m any more. There's much more value in hitting in lucky in the draft.

Patriots have Garapolo, we don't need no stinking Phillip Rivers.
