Will San Diego Chargers deal Philip Rivers?

There's a lot of smoke out there that this will happen before the draft.

The concept of Philip Rivers getting traded by the Chargers sounded ridiculous when it first came up this offseason. It doesn't sound so crazy anymore.
Tuesday's column by Kevin Acee in the Union-Tribune San Diego marked a turning point in the story. The prime NFL writer in San Diego -- a close confidante of Rivers -- believes it's time for the Chargers to trade the franchise quarterback. This does not get written in a vacuum or haphazardly. The potential move to Los Angeles hovers over the entire Chargers organization, especially Rivers' future.
Trading a top-10 quarterback doesn't happen often, but there are plenty of reasons to believe we're well past baseless speculation.

Don't forget that Rivers (and Acee) first brought this issue into the public a month ago. The five-time Pro Bowler said that "nothing" would get him to sign a new contract before the start of the 2015 season. You do not have to read between the lines with Rivers' comments. "What I can control and all I know as of today, I am signed up for one more year," Rivers told Acee in March. "I guess things could change, but with all the uncertainty in many aspects, I don't see it changing before camp gets here, and when camp gets here I'm even more certain to play it out." Rivers made it clear that moving to Los Angeles would be an issue

San Diego's evaluation of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is the X-factor in this story. The Chargers worked out Mariota Tuesday, and there has been speculation about the team's interest over the last month.

Who are the teams likely to be interested?
Cardinals
Texans
Bills
I think the Bengals should be, but they will probably continue closing their own window
I'm sure I"m missing some obvious destinations.

If they do trade him, he will be going to the NY Jets.

Titans?
What else would the Chargers have to thrown in to get the #2 pick? 1st & 3rd?

If Rivers wants to win him a Super Bowl, he should go to the Cardinals.

Very doubtful. He wont sign an extension there. No way.

I can see the Bears making a deal and trading cutler to

I could see him in Arizona or New York IMO

Neither of those teams can offer enough to get Rivers.
The Chargers aren't getting rid of Rivers unless they can get Mariota in return
Titans are the only ones that could make that happen
I'm more interested in why he is so adamant on not playing in LA

Rivers is a family man. I'm not saying this is a correct reasoning if it were the case, but he might not feel comfortable raising a family in LA.

If Whizz & Co. don't really believe in Mett (or the draft) & want to save their collective asses, TN is as likely as anywhere - and Rivers has family close. I just have trouble believing SD would deal a top qb with a few good years left.

Nobody will make the trade unless Rivers is on board to sign an extension. He has been on record to say that if he ever left SD, he would like to raise his kids in the South (or close to the South).

Nashville is an hour & 45 minutes from his hometown

He doesn't have to.

Are you thinking suburbs? Or like his own apartment away from where they live? Phillip ain't doing the latter.

They don't really have to be IN LA, there's plenty of area surrounding la that aren't Hollywood
