A Ton of Talent? Arizona, Duke and Kentucky have a Ton of Talent. LSU has some good pieces that can win you 20 games. But, to say it's pure talent is a stretch. Also, a good recruiter can land kids from Detroit, Chicago, LA, NYC, Philly and DC Metro. At this time we don't have any of that.

Jones, is an in-state/regional recruiter at this time. I think he's good for LSU and he should get the time he needs.

Every journey starts with a single step. LSU isn't a national brand. So holding them to the standard of college basketball royalty's prowess is unreasonable. Also, in terms of his regional prowess, apparently the man's got Australia on lock. The deep south, the southern hemisphere, sons.

There are like only 2 SEC schools that have that right now.

The last time we made the final four it was with a team built on talent recruited from about 5 miles off campus. I think we can do okay with a regional recruiter.

lol

You have any idea how hard it is to get top players, in these areas, that would want to play at LSU?

Duke & Kentucky are the exception, not the norm.

Was great under Brady

Treloar extended Brady's career at LSU by three years. He was a brilliant tactical coach.

He also worked with Tyrus and Garrett Temply everyday when they redshirted. Was very much hands on and helped them to really over achieve as players.

I love how you decided to conveniently leave off Dallas and Atlanta...

Get a life man.

He has had 3 recruiting cycles...

He has gotten kids from: a couple Dallas, a few from Atlanta (area), Australia, Lake Charles, a couple from Baton Rouge, Virginia. It's not like he has stayed instate for everyone...

You don't recruit 25 people per class.

Lsusteve: it doesn't have to be the cream of crop players. However, a great recruiter should be able to get that done with players in that 100-200 range. Especially with ESPN family of networks having all SEC games on television.

He's filling up the classes with good college players from all over. There simply isn't room in the classes to hit every rust belt city you think he should be cleaning up after the other programs are done in just three years. Your argument doesn't make sense. He's getting great players. If they start winning big games, he'll get more. That's how it works.

It would not make sense if you didn't read the entire discussion. I'm not bashing Jones. I was only agreeing with a poster who claimed Simmons wouldn't be here if not for his Godfather. I happen to agree with that. Therefore, the question becomes is Jones a great recruiter? I think he's doing ok..other than this years class which is handed to him on silver platter, I'll debate with anyone that he's bringing in major talent.

I agree. There are still coaching dynamics to work out an you never know how that's going to go as my impression is that CJJ is very hands on.

But Treolar is a very good college assistant coach and he's proven that. His contribution to Indiana's (when he was there) and LSU's Final Four teams IMHO was significant.

Wasn't he the mastermind behind Brady's great defenses at LSU? If true, this would be an epic pickup. We're fine as far as recruiting is concerned. pretty positive the state has good/great talent these next few years, on top of Jones Texas connections and Patrick's connections basically everywhere

My circles are beginning to discuss this as well. OP, my apologies for the doubt. Still have some but glad to see this could very well be real.

Yes, the coaches that I'm friends with or people who know Treloar and/or worked with him. When multiple people from different groups relay... you call it circles. Lol
