After at least 3 years of bitching about the Pels not doing this he now says everyone saying follow the Thunder model for a rebuild is ludicrous. Dodged world class bullet with Durant/Oden, dodged more bullets when Westbrook falls to them after Beasley and Mayo, somehow pull Ibaka out of their arse in the 20's.
Also BS that he attributes advocating the Thunder model to others as if he didn't do it for years.

1. what is the Thunder Model?

I like out "suspiciously get #1 overall pick the same year the NBA was tying to sell your team" model.

If we did the "slow" rebuild like THEY wanted, you'd have this team with 25-30 wins right now and no shot at the playoffs right now and likely not next year. They bitch about this team cause it wasn't built the way some wanted.

I'm happy with the direction the team is going.

ETA: the they I'm refering too is the media and the jimmy smiths of the world.

Be bad and build through the draft by lucking into HoFers in 3 consecutive drafts.
Just think if you followed that model and drafted Oden, Mayo, and Thabeet(The 3 guys who went before their picks from '07-'09). JACKPOT.

Could've rebuilt with beastly Trey Burke running the show like everyone wanted.

He really got full of himself as soon as Grantland launched. It's been rough. His page two days were great because he knew the players and game a little better. Now it's stale bread.

Simmons is a bit of a clown, but I'd be shocked if he said the Pels should do what OKC did.

The argument was never about hitting on all your draft picks, it was about having flexibility and not rushing to build a team. Davis changed that equation a good bit.

Every team needs luck. OKC, SAS, GS, etc. The Pels have improved a great amount despite horrid injury luck. That is most commendable and reflects highly on the organization and players.
