Does anybody in the San diego area have any recommendations for whale watching from the beach? I am here for a week and was curious if anybody has any opinions
Thanks

Yeah are you talking about whales or the huge ocean mammals?

If you go up to Cabrillo, I could see the dolphins from up there and there is a whale watching area but did not see any the time I went. There harder to find in California. Cabrillo is worth the 20 minute drive from downtown area. Nice scenic views on both sides and a tide pool area that is really neat.

As a chubby chaser, I'm deeply disappointed in this thread.

Go down to seal beach in La Jolla. You'll at least see seals, maybe a great white attacking one, and possibly a boring whale you're looking for.

I went on one of the whale watching boats that dock by Little Italy. It was pretty cool going out to the Pacific past Point Loma. And on the way back, the boat passed real close aside the USS Ronald Reagan, which makes one appreciate the size of one of those carriers.
I think around this time of the year is a prime time to catch the gray whales on their migration. I went in March and we saw 3 whales.

WalMart is usually a good spot.

LaJolla is worth going see the seals, unless the fog rolls in and then you can't see the ocean

Point Loma is the traditional place and your best bet. Not a beach but as high as you are you can see a lot of ocean. And the view of downtown is great. If you take a whale watching cruise they are almost guaranteed this time of year. The boats don't have to go far, usually within a mile or two of land.

I think you just missed their migration northward - though you might still be able to catch some killer whales or blue whales if you take a boated ride. Not sure which beaches are best to observe from land though.

Get some fatty to point their arse out the water and fart. I looks about the same.

This would be great but I have a pregnant wife so a boat ride is out. To sea sick. I'll just head to point Loma and try my luck
Thanks for the suggestions
