How many 1st rounders did he cost? Because Dunbar cost one.

So does Ricky need to be on this list?

He had some decent seasons with us, but he would have to be Walter Payton and Barry Sanders COMBINED to justify what we gave up for him.

Yeah but this franchise has had much bigger busts at the position. Was he worth what they gave up? No. But he wasn't the worst ever

I was just basing it on the criteria that I quoted.

FTR, my vote is Dunbar.

I don't have a problem with anyone who goes with Dunbar, but I just disagree. I'd have him at 3. I think Pittman not making the team after moving up to get him and then having an undrafted free agent beat him out (even though it was the right choice) was a bigger miss for me.

Fair point, but to me, anything past the 3rd round is hit or miss anyways.

Hard to call anyone picked outside the top 3 rounds a "bust". Most of those guys are projects anyway.

There's so many to pick from, I know, but Wuerffel shouldn't be slighted. He earned this spot!

Wuerffel started a handful of games and even had a .500 record as a starting QB his second year with the Saints. Not THAT bad for a fourth round pick. Did he have the talent to be drafted beyond the 7th round in the first place? No, of course not. But his results on paper aren't all time bust level for a 4th rounder either.

McPherson, for example, never started a game, much less won a game.

Irv Smith
I stopped by his station and got his autograph during the Pats-Packers Superbowl festivities (I think it was at the mall). Nobody seemed to be talking to him and he had his own pictures he was autographing to hand out. Dude was SO nice. He was legitimately excited that I knew who he was and wanted to meet him. I kept that picture along with all the other great sports memorabilia I collected over the years just because how cool he was left an impression on me.

I think Sam Holden was injured severely in the old college all-star game when the SuperBowl Champions (in this case the Pittsburgh Steelers) played a group of 1st and 2nd round picks. Not so much a bust as just rotten luck,

Maybe Cam Cleeland was the better choice as the TE pick?

Those were my two that I was choosing from. He was a 2nd round pick and IMO he was better than Irv Smith. But he was such a fricking baby and he was a little bitch about everything when he went to the Rams. I almost feel sorry for the guy.

I don't see how any skill position player drafted after Round 3 can be considered an "all-time bust".

They said on Siruis radio yesterday at only 60% of first and second round picks had their options renewed. so basically 40% of those picks over last 5 years are bust. wild but true

Haven't seen that name in a while. Someone created a webpage from when he lined up behind a guard. LINK
